3 Sierra Leoneans Receive Honorary Doctorate Degrees from World Academic Leaders in Dubai

Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Ethiopia and two distinguished Sierra Leoneans were on Tuesday, 31st October, 2017 honoured with honorary PhD degrees by the Commonwealth University in London with affiliation in the United Arab Emirates. The award ceremony took place at the Arabian Courtyard Hotel in Dubai.

 

His Excellency, Ambassador Osman Keh Kamara who is also Sierra Leone’s Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and Mr. Wiltshire C. N. Johnson of the Sierra Leone Pharmacy Board (accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Lauratu Johnson), as well as Dr. Alie Turay, Registrar, Njala University College, were awarded in recognition of their achievements and contribution to national development.

The London Graduate School better known in renowned academic circles as LGS is the tuition provider and administrator of several universities, colleges and professional institutes, including the Commonwealth Academy of Leadership and Management, London and the Commonwealth University.

In a letter to each of the awardees a few weeks ago by Shadrach Iornem, Director of Programmes from the esteemed London Graduate School, it was stated that: “The Commonwealth University proposes to award you the Honorary Doctorate Degree in recognition of your achievements and contributions towards national development.”

In his congratulatory message, the Director of Programmes also said, “on behalf of the Chancellor of the Commonwealth University, Professor Michael Addison, I wish to congratulate you on your nomination for this important award.”

The Honorary Doctorate Degree Award of the Commonwealth University is unique and it is especially reserved for personalities who have distinguished themselves in society through service, selflessness and other outstanding contributions through which the lives of many have been touched positively.

 

In a brief telephone conversation with the three selected Sierra Leoneans after receiving the honorary degrees, they said they were humbled to receive meritorious awards and accolades from the prestigious university for recognizing their contributions to national development.

 

The ceremony was witnessed by the Charge’ d’Affairs, Mr. Allieu Badarr Mansaray and the Administrative Assistant / Liaison Officer, Mr. Mohamed S. Conteh of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

 

It could be recalled that the same honorary degree was conferred on the National Secretary General of the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) Party, Ambassador Alhaji Foday Osman Yansaneh in the presence of world academic leaders and other prominent diplomats in the United Arab Emirates in the city of Dubai during the 15th international leadership summit held in July this year.
