*PPRC Connivance with ill-minded individuals Exposed*

With the leadership of the ruling Sierra Leone people’s Party (SLPP) now in the hands of President Julius Maada Bio and Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, other executive positions at Constituency, District, and National levels are up for grabs. The competition is set for the national delegates’ conference in the not-too-distant future.

*Some political parties’ regulators, within PPRC have tied active politicking to some ill-minded individuals Within our beloved SLPP base on the recent abnormal and subjectional directives giving by the commission. Many political observers and analysts have seen the PPRC move as a clear political biasness to favor certain individuals for national positions.*
PPRC stands accused of offering those ill-minded individuals an opportunity to trample on the constitutional and democratic rights of individuals while carrying out its programmes uninterrupted. The biasness from PPRC emerged two weeks after elections were petitioned by certain individuals whom according to the party’s constitutions have no right to conduct such obligations like the two section chiefs from Gorama Mende Chiefdom.
*It appears as if PPRC had been waiting to play a cheap political gimmick to shape and control the pace of strong candidates who have shown their loyalty to certain party stakeholders that are not in good book with the PPRC top leadership.*
It has been confirmed that Certain folks within the PPRC are now eyeing party position in up coming delegates conference thus have warrant them to support a set of faction within our beloved Party. The PPRC, no doubt, stands on the threshold of exposure owing to its act of according undue political advantage to those individuals. However, the commission seems either clueless or negligent of its implication on the party’s unity and democracy as long as it pleases those working for illegally.
*The party leadership seems to care little about how others perceive PPRC restrictive actions by using personal constitutionality to favor those they want to place in party positions. Certainly not for SLPP is an institution that believes in democratic principles although PPRC now nurtures democratic dictatorship in our beloved SLPP.*
The current Chairman and the PPRC, by indications, are slowly killing democracy in Sierra Leone. The recent directives of PPRC failed to meet democratic standards as there were total bianess in most of their directives for both Kono and Kenema Districts making them go against most of those decisions.
*This new development practiced by PPRC has somehow set the stage for a cut-throat contest by the aspirants as well as unnamed individuals Within the top ranked of PPRC who will soon make public their intentions to run for different positions.*
Although the commission tries to hide under constitutional protocols, the recent press release however exposed the injustice of the PPRC against the grassroots supporters of our party. PPRC has, in the last two years, failed to play a neutral role in the democratic dispensation since it has succumbed to some political pressure.
*By its mandate, the commission is expected to serve as a twin-breast feeding mother bearing in mind that it is meant to serve all but requesting to conduct lower level elections for a political party is what has dragged them into a doom of lamentations.*
Therefore, those neutral authorities at the commission should be cognisant of internationally accepted systems of politicking especially those standards prescribed by the European Union, Africa Union who are busy training bodies on how to regulate political parties and conduct elections for the benefits of all.
*Many have argued that it is needless for PPRC to order a re-run elections in areas that were did their elections without hindrances if only such moves are not aimed at providing political leverage for some ill-minded individuals to operate.*
As some of those directives of PPRC remain in force, the people of SLPP call on the commission to reverse its directives and rules and restore the democratic rights of the people.
*PPRC and cronies must realise that the internal democratic process belong to all SLPPians and not only those the Chairman is fighting for. Any Failure by PPRC to reverse its decision will heighten the cloud of suspicion among political circles, and may not bode well for the party’s fledgling democracy.*
Such actions by PPRC and cronies are destroying the democratic foundation of the party for personal gains. As a commission, PPRC must create a level playing field for all for the consolidation of the party’s democracy. It must not bow to the dictates of certain individuals because of political gains.
*In the face of turbulent circumstances, the party’s leadership must strive to restore democratic values within SLPP which is a foundation of freedom and democracy. It is widely believed that the wide latitude of freedom he enjoyed in his campaigns made him to occupy the presidency of Sierra Leone. It is needless for those individuals to hide under the PPRC canopy but must allow democratic institutions to function well without undue influences and interferences as it was done during the party’s symbol awarding in 2023.*
*SLPP will no longer tolerates monopoly of power by anyone for the people have to enjoy their democratic rights, thus, PPRC must restore respite to SLPP so that we can operate freely without unjustifiable hindrance.*
