High Commissioner Kamara presents his Letters of Credence to President Kenyatta

Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya with residence in Ethiopia, Mr. Osman Keh Kamara presented his Letters of Credence to the Kenyan President His Excellency, Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday 8th December 2015 at the Sate House in Nairobi.

 

High Commissioner Kamara was among 12 resident and non-resident High Commissioners who presented their letters of accreditation to President Kenyatta ahead of the 10th World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference, which will be held, from 15th to 18th December, 2015 in Kenya.

In his brief statement, High Commissioner Kamara conveyed compliments from His Excellency, the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, the Government and people of the Republic Sierra Leone to the Kenyan President and through him to the people of the Republic of Kenya, adding that he was honoured and absolutely delighted to serve as his country’s High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya. He expressed hope that he shall succeed in his endeavors to promote further the relations that exist between the two countries.

 

“Your Excellency, Sierra Leone sincerely appreciates Kenya’s assistance during the nation’s fight against the deadly Ebola virus disease. This gesture is a clear manifestation of the African solidarity. Together with Your Excellency’s support, Sierra Leone has defeated the virus, the country has been declared Ebola free since 7thNovember, 2015 and the Government has commenced the revitalization of development programmes hitherto disrupted by the Ebola outbreak,” he said.

 

He further stated that: “The Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Sierra Leone collaborate on multifaceted global issues, not least our shared membership of the African Union, the Commonwealth and the United Nations. My President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma is committed to working closely with Your Excellency in advocating the African common position on the reform of the United Nations Security Council as contained in the Ezulwini Consensus and the Sirte Declaration.”

 

High Commissioner Kamara ended his statement by saying: “I now have the honour to present to Your Excellency the Letter of Recall of my predecessor and my Credentials by which His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone has appointed me to be the next High Commissioner of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the Republic of Kenya’’.

 

Responding, President Kenyatta welcomed High Commissioner Kamara to Kenya and assured him of uninterrupted performance of his duties throughout his tenure.

 

President Kenyatta also congratulated President Koroma for defeating the Ebola virus disease, adding that he is equally committed to collaborating with Sierra Leone in pursuing the Continental assignment given to them by the African Union to correct the historical injustice done to Africa for not being represented in the permanent category as well as its under representation in the non-permanent category of the United Nations Security Council.

Present at the ceremony  were the Information Attache to the Sierra Leone Embassy in Ethiopia,  Mr. Abdul Karim Koroma and the Sierra Leone Consul in Kenya, Mr. Abdul Karim Kargbo.
