AMBASSADOR BOCKARIE STEVENS
Among those inducted into the Hall of Fame last night were Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the U.S, Mr. Bockarie Stevens ; the Minister Plenipotentiary to the UN, Mr. Leeroy Wilfred Kabs-Kanu ; Academic Dr. John Sandy and young, brilliant and promising actress Ms. Wendy Bangura. Minister Kabs-Kanu was unavoidably absent from the grand program because he was out of the country.

This is the 5th award the Cocorioko Publisher Kabs-Kanu has received to mark an illustrious journalism career. In 1975, the Fourah Bay College Students Union headed by Kemoh Sulimani Sr gave him his first award for outstanding journalism on campus. In 2003, the New York Chapter of the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party gave the Minister an award for community service. In 2008, the other umbrella Sierra Leone organization, the National Organization of Sierra Leoneans in the U.S. (NOSLINA ) honored him for outstanding journalism and in 2011 he bagged two more coveted awards–The 50th Independence Anniversary and the Union of Sierra Leone Organizations (USLO ) Awards.
