BREAKING NEWS: Supreme Court Strikes Out AG’s Motion
Sierra Leone’s Supreme Court has struck out a motion by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice seeking to dismiss the constitutional reference on the procedure for amending non-entrenched provisions of the 1991 Constitution.
The Chief Justice ruled that the Court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the motion, describing it as an attempt to forestall proceedings after directions had already been issued.
The decision marks a significant development in the ongoing constitutional matter concerning Sections 91 and 108 and the enactment of the 2026 Constitutional Amendment.
The nation now awaits the Court’s further proceedings in a case with far-reaching implications for constitutional governance and the rule of law in Sierra Leone.
