*CANDID* BY THE PEOPLE’S POET
Why Maada Do Not Deserve A Second Term
Sierra Leone do not need unity or peace as much as she needs the right to be free —
*FREEDOM AND JUSTICE!*
Who will trust that there will ever be peace and unity in a country that wasted five years deliberately depriving all other tribes of the opportunity to belong…
Who will believe Sierra Leone will ever prosper and become a thriving democracy in an environment entrenched in corruption within a circle of limited few.
Who should think President Bio will ever stop unlawful punishment of dissidents when, according to pundits, It is his preferred means of holding on to power against the will of majority Sierra Leoneans. Less than a year to elections, Maada’s police force and party operatives are arresting and detaining on daily basis opposition leaders and their supporters. Allegedly, in other instances, Maada is accused of using money that is suppose to help develop Sierra Leone to buy selfish opponents who are willing to betray their party and their country to keep him in power. It is also alleged he his darling make secret deals and promises to prominent opposition leaders and other opponents, so that they will cross carpet and guarantee him another undeserved term.
What President Bio calls development can be rightly called maintenance and improvement or at best continuation.
President Bio continued with projects handed to him by the last government and its international donors. A pointed example are the roads and bridges funded by The EU during the KOROMA ADMINISTRATION. Just recently the president’s minister of Energy and Power activated electricity in many parts of Sierra Leone including Freetown, a project stated by President Ernest Bai KOROMA with the support of donor partners. In his five year term, President Maada Bio may has just been maintaining existing services like ferry services to Lungi. He has also improved on Lungi airport by extending the lounging area and he is still on the move, but rather to late to convince average Sierra Leoneans that he has been work for them.
What has been engaged in cannot be called development. In many’s opinion, It is just a FACE LIFTING. President Bio is yet to show one agricultural or infrastructural development, amongst his many promises, that he has successfully fostered…
Will Sierra Leone afford another five years of a do-nothing-administration? Will she afford another five years of endless human right abuses? Another five year of divide and rule? Hope Not!
The worst might arrive, if Sierra Leoneans allow President Bio an easier and more corrupt means of staying in power for five more years. Sierra Leoneans have come to value free societies around the world through their attachment to Social Media. They would want to witness an absolutely free and fair elections, with the right preparation, under a FIRST PASS THE POST system of electing parliamentary representatives. Let it remain in your mind that is ongoing plotting to use the PR SYSTEM which the present government believes can give it a corrupt majority win in council elections and all other elections. It is also said the SLPP party banking on buying or rigging her way to supper representation in the next parliamentary through the PR SYSTEM that will allow to pass draconian laws. With such a major, under Maada, the dream of an SLPP one party state Sir Albert Margai failed to actualize could be easily made possible by President Bio and his Paopa Revolutionaries.
*Are the opposition parties awake to these points of view or are still snoring in their helpless sleep?*
If President Julius Maada Bio wins another term fairly and freely , Sierra Leoneans should advocate a national support for his next presidency good agende in the interest of our beloved Sierra Leone; cause our lion mountain has not roared like it should for too long. We could be forever grateful to Maada and all those that will help him make our beloved country a viable and vibrant democracy.
But if President Bio forces an unfree and unfair win, he would find it superbly hard to remove elevate Sierra Leoneans from abject poverty and total decadence. I am therefore appealing to the President Bio to
*GIVE US FREE*
and to never again conduct a corrupt election in Sierra Leone.
I hope he listens to a school mate’s advice he had met briefly when he was in the United States of America…
