Maada Bio’s security forces capture and brutally execute two wanted soldiers linked to last year’s alleged failed coup

By KABS KANU

The security forces of President Maada Bio’s violent Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP) Government have shed blood in Sierra Leone again.

Today, two once-serving army captains in the Sierra Leone Army who were being sought by government for their alleged involvement in the alleged abortive military coup last year were brutally massacred by the Quick Reaction Force ( QRF) of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, after allegedly being discovered in their hideout.

The Ministry of Information and Civic Education and the Army Media operations office gave the government’s version. According to them, the security forces got a tip-off about the hideout of the wanted officers , said to be somewhere in rural Western Area ( But strangely, the exact location was not named ) .According to them, when the officers went to apprehend the men, they opened fire on the officers and sustained fatal injuries.

But for some reasons, the public is taking the government explanation with a pinch of salt, as usual. Firstly, the men seemed to have been mercilessly beaten. The macabre  injuries seen on them below are inconsistent with bullet wounds sustained in a shootout. Secondly, the bodies seemed to have been dragged  onto the streets . Thirdly, the statement said the men were found in their hideouts, planning further destabilizing actions.

According to many Sierra Leoneans, commenting on social media, the stories about a shootout and another coup attempt are fishy. People are seen in the vicinity going about their affairs without any panic .The location is not consistent with the scene of a shootout between army officers and two army fugitives. If there was an angry exchange of bullets as the military statement is insinuating , there would have been signs of consternation at the scene and once the bodies were brought to the street, crowds would have appeared to catch a view of the alleged fugitives.

The killings were quickly linked to the horrible human rights records of President Maada Bio, for which he is lucky to escape serious censure from the U.S and international stakeholders. Sierra Leoneans are describing the event as another mindless massacre by this government.

A former Superintendent in the Sierra Leone Police, Mrs. Mira Dumbuya,  responded to the news by posting the following warning to the SLPP Government on her Facebook page.
