The *Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ)* is saddened to announce the death of our brother and colleague, *David Williams* which sad event took place today Tuesday 27th May 2025 along Kambia Highway, Northern Sierra Leone.
Until his death, Mr Williams was a Camera Operator at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).
May the Lord have mercy upon him and grant him eternal rest in Perfect Peace.

When Tragedy Strikes Close To Home
I am devastated by the tragic news of the fatal car accident along the Kambia highway this morning that claimed the lives of two promising media and development professionals: David Williams, a camera operator with SLBC, and Emily Koroma, a long-serving intern with BAN.
Just last week, David was at my office to take footage of me for the ‘Bottom Line’ interview on SLBC. He also covered the SLAJ Presidential Debate on May 16 at the Freetown City Council. He was calm, committed, and always professional in his work. His loss is a painful blow to our media family.
Emily, who had only recently secured a job with CCYA as a finance officer, was helping BAN in the interim because their substantive finance officer is on leave. We were at BAN’s office only yesterday in a follow-up meeting on our EU/BBC Media MEDIA Project. Emily was the one taking photos of the meeting, full of life and dedication.
I am also deeply concerned about the injuries sustained by Ibrahim Samura, Acting News Editor at SLBC, and Abu Brima, Country Director of NMJD, who are both responding to treatment. I wish them strength and a full recovery.
To our partners: SLBC, BAN, NMJD, and to the families of the deceased, I extend my heartfelt condolences. Please know that you are not alone in your grief. We mourn with you, and we stand with you in this time of sorrow.
May David and Emily rest in peace.
