According to Pa Alie Sesay, a Senior Sports Journalist, during his interview at Liberty TV online, on his analysis, he said the squad lacked quality and standard players for a formidable force to contest in ongoing international matches, adding that majority of the players are unattached in clubs in Europe and despite government support back home, they are failing woefully.

He said the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) should focus on promoting the school league in order to tap out young talents, and SLFA should emphasis on organizing youth football regardless of the endless challenges in the country marked by stonny, dusty or crooked pitches. “Sierra Leone will play on the 11 and 15 October, 2024, against Ivory Coast in both legs, our chance of qualifying to Morocco is too narrow based on our standing on the table at the moment, Ivory Coast have secured 6 points, Zambia 3 points, Sierra Leone 1 point and Chad 1 point. The incumbent government has spent the highest money from taxpayers on Leone Stars but no good results coming out.” The analyst added that the positing and formation of players are woefully down, and many Sierra Leoneans are dismayed with the lineup to Chad and Zambia.

Fatmata Kamara based in America said Leone Stars were unprepared probably because of the political interference by government big guys in terms of team selection, noting the technical team is unfit for the job. “Salone should stay away from participating in all international football tournaments and should structure the home leagues well. But Leone Stars U-17, U-21 and other levels are poorly performing globally, she admitted.

Sources close to this medium have revealed that the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and National Sports Authority (NSA) are seeking for a foreign coach to match up with international standards.

Fans at home have said they needed a foreign coach because the input of the local coaches to manage the national team has not been encouraging especially in the eyes of also football pundits and other spectators abroad.
