Despite an unprovoked attack by government troops – pelting peaceful supporters and the presidential candidates with teargases and the firing of live rounds in the air, the energy and enthusiasm displayed by the people of Kono was truly remarkable. The streets were lined with supporters waving APC party flags and singing songs of victory. Dr Samura Kamara and his running mate took the time to interact with the people, listening to their concerns and outlining their plans for the future.
This historic event marks a significant milestone in the APC party’s campaign and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Dr Samura Kamara and his team. Presidential Candidate of the All Peoples Congress, in tandem with his running-mate, have recorded triumphant entry into Kono District.
Welcomed by massive crowd, which draws from youths, women, and the aged, Dr. Samura Kamara and Hon. Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, were given a red carpet welcome, with chanting of the crowd “APC back to power.”
Stakeholders of Kono , including former First Lady , Sia Nyma Koroma while making statement, recalled the level of transformation Kono had under the APC regime under former president Ernest Bai Koroma.
She revealed Dr. Samura Kamara as finance minister played in major role in allocating resources for the construction of roads , hospitals, electricity among other development programmes.
She also revealed “it was under Dr. Samura Kamara that funds for the construction of a university in Kono was secured.”
She concluded the APC is the only way out for Sierra Leone and that Kono shouldn’t make mistake to vote in the APC for the sake of development.
Dr. Samura Kamara, while addressing the gathering said, as a politician with a difference, he abhors deceits, saying “who in Sierra Leone that doesn’t know Kono is the breadbasket of the country.”
Dr. Samura Kamara said under his leadership there will be special programmes for the diamond rich land, revealing there is possibility for Kono’s economy to be diversify given the rich agricultural potentials of Kono.
The APC, he added, attaches great importance to Kono, adding Kono’s development is dear to his heart and that no amount of lies will change his dream for the development of Kono.
Dr. Samura Kamara said ‘the One Nation Manifesto’ caters for realistic programmes, which will transform every corner of the country.
In achieving this, he said, every tribe , region, religion or race should come on board to make the change.
He extended olive branch to all other stakeholders of Kono,and the rest of the country, encouraging all to join hand to address the problem of the suffering masses.
