‘BOOK PEOPLE ‘ ARE LEADING PRESIDENT BIO BY HIS NOSE TO HIS DOOM ?
By Kabs Kanu
The SLPP cannot provide Sierra Leoneans the basic necessities like food, tap water, electricity, good roads , affordable housing and modern technology. Now, like the Lungi Bridge, they have started promising our gullible people INDUSTRIALIZATION.
One thing I like about the SLPP —They like building castles in the air.
DO you have the technological and economic capacity to sustain a steel factory in a country without electricity , running water, other infrastructure and technology ? Will you be able to attract the labor force and technology to keep propelling the steel factory? Have you changed from analog to digital? Today’s modern industries have tremendous digital capacity. You are still trapped in Analog and you are talking of building and running a steel factory.
Indeed, the Chinese will come in with their own manpower and technology and run everything, monopolize everything , including economic returns and the factory will rip off our country and become a White Elephant like the toll gate, airport and the Waka Fine buses. So, the Chinese will now finally have a full hand in and capture our mines.
Look at the suffering in the country. Children have to scoop water from the gutters for their mothers to go cook. Cities are in pitch darkness . There are no good roads in the country. Even the mining companies are a shut down because of bad contracts and failing of some companies to pay taxes . There is no sustainable electricity. Our academic institutions are in ruins. Housing for the poor is non- existent. Every conceivable infrastructure is in disrepair. You have not solved the basics and now you are talking of building a steel industry to convert our mineral resources and industrializing the country.. What a fantastic dream.
Governments fail in Africa because of
1. MISPLACED PRIORITIES
2. NON -FEASIBLE POLICIES AND PROJECTS
3. LACK OF FORESIGHT IN IMPLEMENTING THE RIGHT KIND OF PROJECTS .
Having a steel factory in Sierra Leone is good but have you built the foundation and the ground work to sustain the industry ?
The late Samuel K. Doe blamed the BOOK PEOPLE for leading him astray. He said that the Book People brought him ideas that were high-sounding but not spplicable, ignoring the infrastructural, improved living conditions and the bread- and butter issues that the people needed. Bio will one day plead the same. As for him, President Bio is just being led by his nose by dreamers and castle builders in the air who just want to impress gullible supporters and Sierra Leoneans that they are aiming high.
You can be the most educated man on earth but if all your education does for the people is build their hopes on fantastical dreams that are never achieved, followed by failed and broken promises, and all kinds of lame excuses, you are good for nothing.
WHAT A SHAME..
