WHY THE AUDITOR GENERAL WAS REMOVED BY PRESIDENT BIO

Officials of the Sierra Leone Audit Services , who plead anonymity, have started exposing to the public why their boss, Mrs. Lara Taylor Pearce , was suspended indefinitely yesterday by President Maada Bio.
According to them, President Bio was angered when the auditor General decided to cross-check on receipts of hotel bills presented by State House on his multitudes of foreign travels. The auditor general wanted to ensure that there was uniformity between the receipts and the actual charges by the hotels where the president and his delegations have been staying during his recent travels.
As should be expected by the public which is now aware of the corruption involved even in foreign travels, the receipts were inflated. There was gross discrepancy between what the hotels actually charged and the receipts presented.
With President Bio already worrying over the bombshells in the 2020 Audit Report which the auditor general was expected to release in a few weeks, the president decided to make his move to save himself and his government from further embarrassment.
All the allegations being levied against the auditor general are false . Mrs. Lara Taylor Pearce has been one of short list of credible public officials in the country.
Meanwhile, the Sierra Leone Bar Association has joined institutions , non- governmental organization and political leaders in condemning the removal of the auditor General.
