Since President Maada Bio was controversially handed power last year following fake and rigged presidential elections, with the connivance of British High Commissioner, His Excellency Guy Warrington ( who allegedly swore that it was only over his dead body that the then ruling All People’s Congress -APC -would return to power ) and a very corrupt and tribalistic National Elections Commission ( NEC ) , life has taken a very bitter turn for the people of Sierra Leone.

The former junta leader, Julius Maada Bio, has not only been busy firing thousands of workers in our embassies and missions and ministries, departments and agencies ( MDAs ) and replacing them with members of his tribe; there has been horrendous human rights abuses and illegal tinkering with the constitution and parliamentary procedures. The government has been so busy chasing its opponents that it has totally abandoned the bread-and-butter issues and the welfare of the people, to the extent that the prices of food and basic commodities have spiraled through the roof .
Citizen journalists in the social media have been conducting investigations and market analyses of the prices of food and basic commodities and we present here a comparative analysis of prices when the APC was in power and how they have dramatically escalated under the rule of President Maada Bio.
With the cost of living going higher and less money in circulation , Sierra Leoneans are suffering and have coined the phrase , DE GRON DRY ( The ground has become very dry, meaning, There is absolutely nothing to eat in the country ).
