… Cocaine Saga!!!

The Watergate scandal in the 70s forced President Richard Nixon to resign as President of the United States of America.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom was forced to resign in 2022 when a report bordering on his blatant disrespect and disregard for covid-19 restriction was published.
Eagle’s eye would like to state for the understanding of readers that Richard Nixon as President in the 70s in the United States of America was alleged to have sent burglar to steal documents from the office of the then opposition Democratic Party. He resigned before a congress meeting/committee was convened to get him impeached.
Boris Johnson- a then vociferous Prime Minister of United Kingdom under a conservative government during whose tenure the United Kingdom held a referendum that necessitated UK delinking ties of membership of the European Union. Was it a wise decision or bad one based on UK’s conservative and ‘racist’ indiscrimination, only time will tell.
Boris Johnson’s resignation was as a result of a report which confirmed allegations that while tens of thousands of UK citizens were dying and or reeling from covid-19 outbreak, Boris Johnson had the tenacity and audacity to have hosted a banquet at Downing Street for invited guests in honour of his newly wedded wife. What a travesty of justice! If not a display of double standard!
Eagle’s eye needs not bother readers with other nations whose leaders who worth their salt have resigned on their own or forced to resign by mass protest in light of outright breach of the law which hinge on gross scandal that has the potential to permanently dent and destroy the image of their countries in the comity of nations.
Eagle’s eye would like to state that these resignation scenarios are mostly prominent in democratic states.
Very few Leaders have resigned in undemocratic and totalitarian states.
Granted, the cocaine saga is a subject of investigation. Good and fine! And, people would like to argue that a cocaine scandal gripped the then President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma led government. Former President Koroma was quick to relieve Alhaji Comrade Kemoh Sesay who was Minister of Transport and Aviation, when Kemoh Sesay refused to resign, even as called for in an article published in We Yone Newspaper.
That was a demonstration of outstanding Leadership and sense of responsibility to the international community by former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.
Eagle’s eye would like to stress for the records, that even though there was no tangible evidence that Kemoh Sesay was involved, however the alleged involvement of a brother or cousin of Kemoh Sesay warranted Ernest Koroma to did what he did to save the name of his government and launder the image of Sierra Leone over such a huge scandal.
And, the fact that those apprehended were swiftly investigated, charged to court, prosecuted and jailed after been convicted sends a clear message to the world.
Infact, those accused persons were tried by Justice Nicolas Browne Marke on “retroactive laws as Sierra Leone then in 2008/2009 did not have in its law books laws that criminalize drug trafficking.
Coming to the ongoing cocaine scandal, the indictors are: a vehicle which belongs to Sierra Leone Embassy in Guinea was allegedly impounded with 380+kilograms of cocaine!
And, what Eagle’s eye considers as most damaging and devastating to the government and directly to President Bio; Reuters News Agency as well as number of international media outlets have photos confirmed to have been posted in the social media by the wife of President Bio in the person of the choleric First Lady, Madam Fatima Bio!
Eagle’s eye would like to scream to the rooftops and go and “tell it on the mountain” if it were to quote the outstanding Black American Novelist James Baldwin (now late), that “these photos display a picture of a wanted Dutch National, by the name of Jos Leijdekkers who is a notorious drug trafficking kingpin,”
And, there is strong allegation that this ‘convicted’ but-escapee drug baron’ is having a ‘matrimonial or intimate relationship’ with one of the daughters of President Bio by the name of Agnes Bio. The guy was in the company of President Bio in his hometown of Tihun, Bonthe district. What an unforgivable, unerasable and damaging scandal directly at President Bio!
One prominent social/political commentator has pointed out to Eagle’s eye that, ‘If I were President Bio I would immediately resign and call for early elections.”
Let wait and see what President Bio will do!
