If they do not snap out of their lethargic , stoic and lazy-minded attitudes, Sierra Leoneans will wake up one day and find that not only are all their freedoms and rights gone, but even their economic resources are no longer under any glare of transparency and accountability but in the pockets of President Mada Bio and his desperately corrupt SLPP government officials and international stakeholders secretly collaborating with the President to rob our nation blind.
The SLPP Government is planning to remove all your rights to say what you want on social media . One day, Sierra Leoneans will wake up and find out that they cannot express their minds anymore on social media platforms, Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter, Linkedin and what-have you. It will happen if the SLPP succeed to have Parliament enact the so-called Cyber Crime Act, 2020.
Though called a cyber crime act, the purpose of the bill is to curtail what Sierra Leoneans say on social media. If the bill is enacted, Sierra Leoneans will be barred from the opportunity to express their opinions on the harsh reality of life in their country.
The Government is vey cunning .Just as it has used the country’s meagre resources to bribe and buy over the loyalty of the corrupt local media , international media and some corrupt, self-seeking international stakeholder institutions ( As exposed by the crusading AFRICANIST PRESS ) , so that their human rights abuses and rampant corruption are being concealed, the SLPP is cunningly couching its plan to ban free expression on social media in colorful and skillful rhetoric , redolent of the criminal mind of the government,
According to them, “The Bill is seeking to provide for the prevention of the abusive use of computer systems; to provide for the timely and effective collection of electronic evidence for investigation and prosecution of cyber-crime; to provide for the protection of Critical National Information Infrastructure; to provide for facilitation of international cooperation in dealing with cyber-crime matters and to provide for other related matters. “
Lazy-minded Sierra Leoneans, including our sell-out parliamentarians , will wake up too late to realize that the SLPP has fooled them and that what they meant by prevention of abusive use of computer systems and the protection of critical national information actually meant putting curbs in place that will make it impossible for anybody living in Sierra Leone to freely post their views or dissident information on the SLPP Government on social media. Sierra Leone is about to be dragged down to the worst totalitarian state imaginable.
The Government is also planning to fire or force to resign the Auditor General , Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce, very soon . Already, as exposed by independent media, the SLPP has paid hungry , wishy-washy so-called journalists in Sierra Leone to harass, intimidate, smear, blackmail and frighten the auditor general to eventually resign from her job, all this because the woman is diligently doing her job, as she also did under the APC , to expose squandermania, grand theft and larceny, unchecked and alarming corruption and wastefulness of national resources at State House, Parliament, the ministries, departments and agencies ( MDAs) and quasi-government institutions.
The 2019 Audit Report released by Lara Taylor-Pearce’s office threw the SLPP completely off balance because it proved that the SLPP, for all their noise about fighting corruption, are the most wasteful and corrupt government we have ever had in Sierra Leone since Independence. In reprisals for the release of the audit report, the SLPP has been nagging, nit-picking, harassing and intimidating the auditor general, with sycophantic , brown envelope SLPP journalists now openly calling on the woman to be fired by the government.
When she is fired, your guess is right that Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce will be replaced by a member of Maada Bio’s mende tribe or a southeasterner who will be under the control of the corrupt President and his government . That will signal the end of serious audits in the country and open the door for the most wanton, profligate and heinous corruption and wastefulness of our country’s resources ever.
Maada Bio is steadily destroying Sierra Leone and putting our nation one hundred years back and because they are stoic, lazy-minded, lethargic and very passive, Sierra Leoneans will be complicit in the further rape, decimation and destruction of their country.
