Following the enforcement of an array of restrictions regarding visitations to former President Ernest Bai Koroma, all security personnel previously attached to him were recalled yesterday, Thursday 14th. The new set of military and armed police personnel were deployed without any discussion with the statesman. These new security personnel, particularly their head, a certain Major Koroma, have been restrictive and hostile to the domestic staff and even close family members visiting the statesman.
Even the 5-year-old granddaughter of the former President has twice been refused entry into the premises.
Last night, Major Koroma was reported to have corked his gun and rushed threateningly to the back of the house where a generator had been turned on. Later, he said that he thought he heard a gun being corked.
The aggressiveness of the new security contingent the hostility and tantrums of Major Koroma, constitute a clear and grave threat to former President Koroma’s safety, that of his staffers and visiting family. Such a precariousness should not be allowed around the former President. The hostile Major should be replaced with a professional and well-mannered officer.
