FREDDY WILLโข is storming the entertainment stage on October 10th, 2010 with a colossal new release of his fourth musical offering entitled โDARK HORSE FROM ROMARONGโฆ a city of kingsโ, as well as with his secondย literary publication entitled, โTHE DARK ROAD FROM ROMARONG.โ
ย In December of 2009, FREDDY WILLโข announced that the album had been completed at THUNDER DOME SOUNDS in Ontario, Canada and that it was produced by JUNO Award winner, Jazz musician and producer EDDIE BULLEN. Earlier this year, it was announced on his official websitewww.freddywill.comย that the new FREDDY WILLโข album is recorded solely in the โCreole/Krioโ language of Sierra Leone and it is scheduled to be released worldwide.
โThere is only one guest appearance on this albumโ FREDDY WILLโข explains. โThe guest on this album is none other than Carvin Winans, the 6 time Grammyโข Award winning gospel legend who recorded โProvidenceโ with me on my last album. Carvin has been a mentor to me as I made my transition from a life on the streets and into the music and literary business.ย Working with him has been a blast and as someone who grew up in a huge gospel singing family with his brothers Marvin and BeBe and his sister CeCe Winans, I have come to admire his wealth of musical experience and knowledge.โ
ย To note; there is one English song on the Creole/Krio album titled โSaveโ which features Carvin Winans. โSaveโ is an emotionally charged environmental and socially conscious hit song which calls for a global intervention to levitate extreme health and socio- economic pandemics in third world countries.
โI wanted to create a record which would challenge my creativity. I didnโt want to feature too many people while I addressed African audiences directly. On this album, I put my streetwise twist to West African storytelling which I think is needed in todayโsโ art form. Then I stretched my vocal range between rapping and singing melodies on the verses (or in the hooks) so that I can prove to myself that if I really wanted to, I could sing. However, I wonโt be singing a lot on my future recordsโ, he explains with a smile.
โโRomarongโ is the former name of the capital city of Sierra Leone before it became โFreetownโ. The album describes the lifestyle of someone who is of an African heritage and is influenced by the American style of Hip Hop. It engages listeners with a glimpse into the life of a younger generation of African immigrants abroad who have become influenced by western civilization without omitting core traditional African mythologies. Also, it is about a younger group of Sierra Leoneans who embrace the new world while making most advantageous references to several places around the world where they may reside without sacrificing significant African traditions and culturesโ. Freddy Will โข expressed.
โDark Horse From Romarongโฆ a city of kingsโ and โThe Dark Road From Romarongโย are both set for release in a deluxe package along with a new edition of his first book, โMy Book Of Chrymesโ and a copy of his latest English album entitled โWhile Iโm Still Young โฆ The Talking Drums 1.2vโ. Both are currently available for physical distribution and licensing in West Africa.
