PROFESSOR KELFALA KALLON has threatened to sue the Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP ) Government he setved as Bank Governor for paying his retirement benefits in local currency.

The run- away economist and Bank Governor wants to be paid in dollars but it looks like Dr. Kallon would be courting trouble if he insists on his demand because the press statement below signed by Kallon himself had criminalized demanding retirement benefits in foreign currency.
Kallon’s interview with a local TV media last week broke his long silence since he allegedly abandoned his job in controversial circumstances three years ago after the Maada Bio government refused to renew his three -year contract as Bank Governor.
By the time Kallon left the country unceremoniously, he had incurred the wrath of the people of Sierra Leone when measures he implemented to redenominate the Leone ended up destroying the country’s local currency. The Leone became a joke in the international currency exchange market, with one dollar becoming equivalent to five or more million dollars.
