PRESS RELEASE
Freetown, Aug. 14, 014 (MOHS) – The Ministry of Health and Sanitation is expressing its condolence and sympathy to the bereaved family of the Late Physician Specialist Dr. Modupeh John Horatio Cole whose tragic death took place at the Ebola Treatment Centre in Kailahun. His death came as a shock to the ministry, the government and the nation.
Born on 18th May, 1958, Dr. Cole joined the Ministry of Health and Sanitation on 1st February 1989 as a Medical Officer with a pleasant passion for work, and always ready to accept added responsibilities.
He attended the Kissy Rural Primary School from 1963 to 1970, the Methodist Boys High School from 1970 to 1975 where he attained his G.C.E. ‘O’ Level and Upper Sixth at the Prince of Wales School from 1975-1977.
Dr. Cole later proceeded to Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone from 1977-1981, graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) General, and at the Volgograd Medical Institute USSR, from 1982-1988 as a Medical Doctor, and at the Volgograd Academy from 1999-2002 where he did his post graduate in Internal Medicine.
He got his present substantive post as Physician Specialist in April 2004, and until his death worked on engagement in the clinical in patients and outpatients care, training medical staff, did research, worked at the Connaught Hospital Intensive Care Unit, the Annex and other units at the Connaught hospital.
Other qualifications include Certificates in Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Administration, Public Health, HIV/AIDS treatment, and several other courses.
He also worked at Sierra Rutile, the Kamakwe Wesleyan Hospital, Rogbane Community Health Clinic in Makeni, and a study at Marie Stopes.
The late man for his excellent mental judgment in the performance of his duties, and his commitment and dedication to service before his death,
