MAADA BIO MUST GO IN 2023 SO THAT THE SWEET BREEZE OF FREEDOM AND NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT WILL BLOW OVER OUR NATION ONCE AGAIN
By Kabs Kanu
The scathing denunciation of President Maada Bio and his SLPP cabal by the ECOWAS Parliament over his plans to rig next year’s elections is a crushing blow to the dictator and his party and victory for the APC.
The ears of the people of West Africa are now tuned to Sierra Leone where a fascist government has destroyed every good thing that once defined our nation since it came to power in 2018. If Bio dares to bulldoz himself into power through a fake elections, he will be in trouble with the international community.
The European Union ( EU) , the UN permanent representative in Freetown and the U.S.and British ambassadors have also voiced concerns in recent times about the fake census, flawed registration, Proportional Representation and Block Voting systems that President Bio wants to use to rig the elections next year. It is now a fact that, contrary to our previous fears, the international community is determined to ensure that Sierra Leone conducts free, fair and credible elections next year.
The APC now has capital internationally and must build on this capital to ensure that it wins the elections next year and returns to power. And the party is rising up to the challenge. Soon, it will have ward, constituency and lower- tier elections and conduct its national delegates convention and elects its flagbearer. Even if the flagbearer emerges late, APC will win next year’s elections because everybody is sick and tired of President Bio.
It is very important for the people of Sierra Leone that President Maada Bio is kicked out and the APC returns to power in 2023.
Sierra Leone only sees and undergoes sustainable socioeconomic and political developments when the APC are in power. You cannot point to any credible national development in Sierra Leone that was not constructed by the APC —either by Presidents Siaka Stevens or Joseph Momoh or Ernest Bai Koroma. The SLPP ‘s only achievements in Sierra Leone are tribalism, propaganda, hardship , cannibalism, bloodshed , human rights abuses and false promises.
We agree that since Independence it has not been rosy all the way for Sierra Leone. We have had daunting problems but never have we been stagnant in national development as we are today under this unprogressive and unproductive government of President Maada Bio, who is only good at dividing our people on regional and ethnic lines and shedding the innocent blood of our people.
Under President Stevens, national development was discernible. Despite all the propaganda against him, President Momoh had some impressive developments under his belt. As for President Koroma, he became the leader under whose rule Sierra Leone was a literal works yard, with road and infrastructural developments going on everywhere, even in the SLPP strongholds. Even the present rehabilitation of Lungi International Airport by this underachieving SLPP government would have been surpassed by the state-of-the-art mega international airport President Koroma was on the verge of building at Mamamah, near Freetown —A stellar project that the malicious Maada Bio cancelled because he did not want the APC to enjoy the acclaim of giving the nation an airport that would have been the envy of Africa. Bio promised the Lungi Bridge instead but failed to deliver it. To cover his shame, he decided to refurbish the existing Lungi Airport , without removing the hazard of sea crossing, which Mamamah would have expunged. Bio thinks only about himself and not about the people of Sierra Leone.
President Bio is a human rights abuser, a bigot and a tribalist , a divider of the people and a President with blood on his hands. He needs to be kicked out in 2023 so that the sweet breeze of freedom and national development will blow over our beloved nation once again.
We call on the people of Sierra Leone to come out in full colors in June next year to vote out President Bio in the Supreme interest of our nation.
