Mende hegemony must end in Sierra Leone : Opposition leader calls for ethnic audit of all MDAs

The APC Parliamentary Leader Calls for Ethnic Audit for Maada’s One Tribe Mende Hegemony

By Abu Shaw in London (31/10/2021)

The one-tribe Mende hegemony is currently the political pandemic affecting the peace and unity in Sierra Leone orchestrated by the failed govt.

The tribal brouhaha created by President Julius Maada Bio’s SLPP government is no longer a hidden secret in the country as Sierra Leoneans have observed a different political situation emerging that has the propensity to catapult the nation into a civil war hitherto unknown in Sierra Leone and in the West African sub-region in general. Even the eleven years old bloody civil war that devastated Sierra Leone in the 90s would be a child’s play as compared to what President Bio has hatched in his inept regime. (Photo: Chernor Bah, the APC parliamentary leader, and others are worried about the SLPP tribal politics).

In every facet of society nowadays, the one-tribe disease has infected and spread far and wide so much that everyone including political leaders from opposition political parties has taken notice and feared that this dangerous trend unfolding would not bear sweet fruits for the future of the country. The “Mendecrate Regime” as President Bio’s government is widely dubbed today could be seen in every nook and cranny of Sierra Leone. The Mendes, one of the dominant tribes in Sierra Leone, are occupying all the top positions in the SLPP government. Ninety-eight percent of all the bosses and their deputies in all government institutions are from the southeast and the Mendes ethnic dialect to be specific. President Bio originates from the Mende and Sherbro tribes, a classic case of tribalism of astronomical scale.

This one-tribe Mende pandemic, the largest ethnic tribe in Sierra Leone, has put the country on a knife’s edge, an imminent catastrophe that the remaining tribes in the country numbering 15 believe is possible if urgent action is not taken now to stop President Bio’s SLPP government’s madness from taking Sierra Leone into this dangerous sloppy road to bloody civil war. Now, following the Thursday, October 28, 2021, historic protest by members of parliament of 13 opposition political parties against the imposition of another Mendecratic candidate for the Chairmanship of the National Electoral Commission NEC in the Western Area by President Bio, calls are alarmingly getting louder for an ethnic audit now.https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-7357360780567964&output=html&h=345&adk=2282423035&adf=2098076385&pi=t.aa~a.2105401457~i.18~rp.4&w=414&lmt=1635765312&num_ads=1&rafmt=1&armr=3&sem=mc&pwprc=6457675062&psa=1&ad_type=text_image&format=414×345&url=https%3A%2F%2Ftheorganiser.net%2Fsierra-leone%2F3698-the-apc-parliamentary-leader-calls-for-ethnic-audit-for-maada-s-one-tribe-mende-hegemony&flash=0&fwr=1&pra=3&rh=321&rw=385&rpe=1&resp_fmts=3&sfro=1&wgl=1&fa=27&dt=1635765314950&bpp=2&bdt=2818&idt=2&shv=r20211027&mjsv=m202110260101&ptt=9&saldr=aa&abxe=1&cookie=ID%3Dbf85c337c0891f1c-2286087c38cc0075%3AT%3D1635754214%3ART%3D1635754214%3AS%3DALNI_MYkEHYBHCdrRqKgzQZYrDTws1WahA&prev_fmts=0x0%2C414x90%2Cauto%2C414x345%2C414x345%2C414x345%2C414x345&nras=2&correlator=8172682665784&frm=20&pv=1&ga_vid=1745885531.1635765313&ga_sid=1635765313&ga_hid=560449678&ga_fc=0&u_tz=-240&u_his=1&u_h=896&u_w=414&u_ah=896&u_aw=414&u_cd=32&adx=0&ady=1954&biw=414&bih=699&scr_x=0&scr_y=475&eid=31062945%2C31063166&oid=2&psts=AGkb-H-K4t3yFO_rtmJgXvxK_pG-knZ9mKd91IUqO3_krhp7kP824E4nO7ih549f4LamQcX1jw8-wIyrnkx-%2CAGkb-H_E1cz5gXw6ouWFNh8W_oO62kTpz2b6tchAsLprGBTNMrtHgngKHGidJ3WLGCGGgpb5d4IDdfPwLEFH&pvsid=930952967848644&pem=536&eae=0&fc=1408&brdim=0%2C0%2C0%2C0%2C414%2C0%2C414%2C896%2C414%2C823&vis=1&rsz=%7C%7Cs%7C&abl=NS&fu=128&bc=31&ifi=8&uci=a!8&btvi=5&fsb=1&xpc=4fv3O7D4n7&p=https%3A//theorganiser.net&dtd=14

Suggesting the immediate auditing of the one-tribe hegemony being facilitated by the ruling SLPP government is the APC parliamentary leader Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah alias Chericoco who noted that the country needs an ethnic audit immediately. Chericoco made this clear message when he was addressing the nation during the MPs’ protests a few days ago. Martin Nyuma, the leader of Government Business is another backbone of President Bio’s tribal hegemony because he is married to a Mende woman. Leader of the main opposition APC party in parliament Chericoco said NEC and other institutions, in general, need an ethnic audit in order to weed out the tribal politics of President Bio. During the Thursday demonstration, all 58 APC MPs walked out of parliament, all four NGC Party MPs stormed out as well in protest; Six of the 9 C4C party MPs also walked out among other MPs. While this was going on, the international partners observing the proceedings were watching from the gallery. (Photo: COPPP leaders during the protest outside parliament).

Most of these above SLPP NEC staff had been accused in the past of tampering with Ballot Papers/Ballot Stuffing in polling areas across the country. The public must monitor the movements and activities of these above-mentioned SLPP/Paopa operatives parading as NEC staff. Courtesy: Special Correspondent.

The Africanist Press from the US also touched on the tribal and nepotistic behaviour of the SLPP government thus: “While all of NEC’s 204 staff, including drivers and domestic employees of commissioners, received salary increases, NEC staff records and payroll documents show that only staff believed to be SLPP members were considered for promotion under this new restructuring and promotions program. At the district level, for example, Assistant District Elections officers who were promoted to District Elections Managers were mostly individuals believed to be members of the SLPP, or from areas considered SLPP strongholds. Another example is Baleyma Musa, a staff member believed to be an active SLPP supporter from Kenema, who is now elections manager in Bo.

“Baleyma Musa was Assistant to Musa Kangabai in Kenema when the alleged ballot tampering occurred during the 2018 elections. Likewise, Augustine Saffa, who was transferred from Kambia as District Elections Officer, now holds the position of District Elections Manager in Kenema, an area with a minority of SLPP voters. Other promotions and postings include Augustine Mohamed (recently placed in charge of elections in Portloko), Henry Thompson (Moyamba), Charles Ensa (Karene), Usifu Kamara (Kono), Larry Fangawa (Western Urban), Louissa Gbassa (Western Rural), and Fatmata Jalloh (Pujehun).

“However, Africanist Press also discovered that some NEC staff alleged to be SLPP members or active supporters received salary increases ranging between 45% and 75%, but were not promoted or moved to different posts. These individuals are mainly staff in NEC’s Internal Audit Department, the Finance Department, and the Department of Electoral and Voter Education. They include Aiah Sam, Philip Fatorma, Hassan V. Sheriff, Agnes Tarawally, Tonia Salankule, Kadija Dukuray, Mohamed T. Sheriff, Manty Daboh, Alieu Jalloh, Foday Samura, Lawrence Kenjah, Alimu Bah, Timothy Musa, Jacob Jajua, Ansumanah Kanneh, Mbekay Amara, Sammy C Sama, and Paul Dixon,” Africanist Press reveals.

Not to mention the Chief Minister Jacob Jusu Saffa, a Mende by tribe! Not to mention the Foreign Minister Dr David Francis, a Mende by tribe! Not to mention the Finance Minister Denis Vandy, a Mende by tribe! Not to mention the Anti-Corruption Commission ACC Chairman Francis Ben Kaifala, a Mende man! The Press Secretary and Government Spokesman Kektoma Sandi is a Mende man! And many other institutions including the police and the military. A Mendecratic regime under President Bio throughout! What other reasons do people want to convince themselves that President is a dangerous tribalist?
