Sierra Leone’s President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has called the family of the late Dr. Martin Salia in Maryland to sympathize with them and console them for the death of the medical practitioner, who is the seventh Sierra Leonean doctor to succumb to the Ebola virus.
Dr. Salia died on Monday at the Nebraska Medical Center where he was flown from Sierra Leone over the weekend for treatment .

A very sad President Koroma spent over 10 minutes on the telephone with Dr. Salia’s wife, Madam Isatu Salia and family consoling them, according to Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the United Syates, Mr. Bockarie Kortu Stevens, who was with the family when President Koroma made the call. President Koroma assured the family of his support and said that Dr. Salia died as a hero and his sacrifices for his nation will never be forgotten.
Ambassador Stevens and the Deputy Ambassador , Mr. I.S. Conteh , visited the Salia family and sympathized with them yesterday . They spent some time with the family and are even working with the family and the priest to plan the funeral and memorial services.
