It is as if there is no end to the show of naked brutish power in Sierra Leone since President Maada Bio came to power in 2018. Every day has its grotesque drama. If it is not brutal beating or shooting of unarmed civilians, it is perversion of the law and justice by the president and his acolytes.
Last weekend, it was a video clip of soldiers of the presidential guards engaged in a wild, wanton tribal dance at State Lodge and brandishing deadly weapons and loudly threatening to kill any soul that dared step out on Tuesday April 27—Sierra Leone’s 60th Independence Anniversary day–to protest against President Bio and the SLPP Government.
The video, which is making the rounds on social media has been widely condemned by Sierra Leoneans, including human rights , social media and mainstream media activists and men and women of conscience who believe that it portrays a very dangerous omen for democracy, the rule of law and peace and security in post-war Sierra Leone.
As Sierra Leone goes into Independence anniversary mode, the video is being savagely condemned on social media as a depraved exercise by soldiers of the RSLAF assigned to the president to show how standards have fallen in the Sierra Leone army and how indiscipline now reigns supreme. But many Sierra Leoneans are arguing that the so-called soldiers involved in the charade were actually indisciplined Kamajors of the banned, discredited war-time Civil Defence Force ( CDF ) , who have been recruited into the security forces by President Bio.

At the eve of our nation’s 60th Independence Anniversary, this is the Presidential Guard sending direct threats to citizens and asking someone to film and share the video. Civil Society will continue to keep quiet on these highly provocative stunts by operatives of the regime. God what have we done?

· Sack those so called Presidential Guards or else it will be construed that they have the tacit approval of the President! How can Presidential Guards intimidate citizens? Nobody has monopoly over violence, so stop triggering it!

· :I just watch some videos where some soldiers were dancing and sending some threatening words to we the civilian population, those guys really made me believe that president Bio is really afraid of this independence holiday that’s coming, according to the video, the soldiers on the video are attached at the presidential lodge, even though Mr Bio is notorious of being ignorant about all the wrongs that have been taking place in the country, this one is on video and am sure he will eventually see it, that is, if he had not seen it before it was released, and gave it his blessings, but the fact remain that it’s just an ordinary threat from some mende soldiers,it doesn’t has the backing of the entire SLA, I am sure if you get to that presidential lodge you will hardly find someone there that is not mende soldier, for the president himself said that it was the British that divided the country that’s why he is ruling the country with that division, but let me tell those Soldiers or Kamajors that ( E lef pan dem, no body nor dea fraid)
