Just how badly Sierra Leone is slowly nosediving from a democratic society to dictatorship and juntacracy can be seen in the ongoing doctors’ and nurses ‘ strike . The Sierra Leone has stepped in , describing the strike as a national security issue , and the striking doctors have been invited to the Police for what it called an engagement, in a nation where police intimidation is all too rampant.
Many Sierra Leoneans have taken to the social media to protest that the so-called engagement tantamounts to naked intimidation of the aggrieved medical practitioners. It represents a worrying trend about the rise of dictatorship in Sierra Leone since President Maada Bio came to power in April.
