DICTATOR  MAADA BIO

The two civil rights leaders of the Concerned Sierra Leoneans , Thomas Babadi and Hardi William, were arrested at the CID where they had gone to  respond to a call by the Inspector of General of Police, Mr. William Fayiah Sellu, to appear for a meeting to discuss their request for a permit to stage the peaceful demonstration.

On November 30, The Concerned Sierra Leoneans group had given the Elections Commission of Sierra Leone ( ECSL ) until December 9 to release the disaggregated results of the June 2023 elections or else they will stage a peaceful demonstration in Freetown.

On Monday December 2, the Sierra Leone Police responded and invited the leaders of the group to appear for a meeting  at the CID on Wednesday December 4 ( today ) to discuss their request.

On the arrival of the men, they were placed under arrest and according to reports, the order to arrest them came from the Sierra Leone dictator, Maada Bio. Both men are now languishing in the cells of the CID.

Angry Sierra Leone on social media have described the SLPP government’s act as unlawful, unconstitutional and dictatorial because the constitution of Sierra Leone grants citizens the rights to freedom of assembly.

The Concerned Sierra Leoneans group itself has condemned the arrests of its leaders and has reported the matter to international moral guarantors and stakeholders.
