*EDSA SHUTDOWN PROVES THE SLPP CANNOT GOVERN*

In a jaw-dropping display of arrogance and irresponsibility, the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), a key public utility under the SLPP government, was officially shut down earlier today, Thursday 24th April 2025, by the National Revenue Authority (NRA) for failing to comply with tax obligations.
This embarrassing closure comes as the latest indictment of a ruling government that continues to fail even by its own standards.
According to Mrs. Ann-Marie Baby Harding, Deputy Commissioner General of the NRA, EDSA was duly notified to attend a crucial meeting scheduled for April 23rd, 2025. Despite being warned the previous week of the consequences, EDSA blatantly ignored the call. “Their absence was not just negligent, it was reckless and disrespectful to national institutions,” Mrs. Harding said in a stern statement that echoed the frustrations of countless citizens.
While the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC) honored its obligation and remains open, EDSA’s failure to show up proves just how deep the rot goes under the SLPP’s watch.
It is even more disgraceful considering EDSA’s daily exploitation of citizens through their so-called prepaid meters that gamble with every purchase. Sierra Leoneans are being taxed unfairly on unreliable electricity, yet EDSA refuses to pay its own dues to the state.
This is nothing short of institutional theft, enabled by a government that has clearly lost its grip. The people deserve better. The nation deserves leadership, not chronic excuses and reckless management of critical services.
