We Took An Oath: Fallah Leads Legislators to Tense Sorluma Borders in Peace Mission
Foya District, Lofa County – In a bold move amid rising border tensions between Liberia and Guinea, Deputy Speaker Thomas P. Fallah is leading a high-level legislative delegation to the disputed Sorluma area.
“We, the Legislators and the President took oath to protect and defend the sovereignty of this country and the rights and properties of our citizens,” Fallah said while en route.
“We’re going to Sorluma to meet with our Kissi people from Liberia and our Kissi brothers and sisters from Sierra Leone and Guinea to identify the problems and we all solve them as we’re one family,” he added.
Fallah is accompanied by fellow lawmakers and joint security officers on what appears to be both a fact-finding and peace-building mission.
He stressed that Liberia’s borders with Guinea and Sierra Leone are not only geographical, but deeply rooted in shared history and identity.
According to him, years of intermarriage, trade, and friendship have created strong ties among the Kissi people across all three countries.
His intervention comes at a critical time, as tensions persist over the disputed Sorluma border in Foya District.
Observers believe the move could help ease tensions while reinforcing Liberia’s commitment to both sovereignty and regional unity.
