Madam Yegbeh Kanu, the step-mother of the Minister Plenipotentiary , Mr. Wilfred Kabs-Kanu, died in Bo today . She was the second wife of the family patriach, Pa. Lamina Togbangay Kanu, who along with his head wife, Madam Yabu Kanu , predeceased Mrs .Yegbeh Kanu in 2000 and 2005 respectively.
She is survived by her other sons, Mr. Max Kanu -formerly of the SLBS ; Mr. Joseph Joskyn Kamah- Kanu of the United Kingdom ; daughter Khadi Lahai of Bo; her biological children Mr. John Kanu, popularly known as JOE COOL ( A teacher at the Banjul High School in the Gambia ), Mr. Bassie ‘Boss Kay; Kanu, a law student at Fourah Bay College; Mr. Edmund Moiwo Kanu , also a teacher in the Gambia, Mr. Borbor Kanu of Bo, Mr. Sheku Kanu of Bo; and Yabu Kanu , Fatu Kanu of Bo ; and many grandchildren – Pamela, Junior, Wilfreda, Christian, Joshua, Yomborlor, Ngeyborloe, Tobangay, Comfort, Francis, Zainabu, etc. She is survived by In-laws Pastor Kekura Lahai , now in Korea ; Mrs .Tigidankay Kabs-Kanu, Director of Nursing , Rose Mountain Care Centre , New Jersey; Mrs. Comfort Kamah-Kanu , Mrs. Hannah Kanu etc.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

This is the second family bereavement in a month . In September , Miss Christiana Kargbo, a graduate of the Milton Margai College of Education, and daughter of Isatu Kargbo (Sister of the Kanus ) died in Freetown after a short illness and was buried in Bo. Isatu Kargbo predeceased her daughter in 2002.
