The leader of Guinea’s ruling junta,Β Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, was greeted inΒ FreetownΒ during a visit to neighbouringΒ Sierra Leone.
Doumbouya was met by Sierra Leone’s president,Β Julius Maada Bio, and promised to strengthen the ties between the two countries.
“It is an honour for me to come and see my brother Bio, because he is the first president who came to visit us when we took power onΒ 5 SeptemberΒ (2021, Ed.), on 11 October President Bio was already inΒ Conakry. That was a testimony of the friendship, the brotherhood between theΒ Republic of GuineaΒ and theΒ Republic of Sierra Leone. And we will work further on this, to strengthen once again our ties of cooperation, brotherhood and friendship”, affirmedΒ Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, Head of Guinea’s ruling junta.
Sierra Leone’s President,Β Julius Maada Bio, added:
“Guinea and Sierra Leone, we are not (just)Β neighbours, we are so related that it is difficult to draw a boundary between us. But that is what happened after colonialism, the ‘scramble for Africa’. So we have to keep this relationship between our two countries, and basically that’s what we are doing”, he said.
Colonel Mamady Doumboya led aΒ coupΒ in September 2021 ousting former president,Β Alpha CondΓ©.
Since October last year that Doumboya is serving asΒ Guinea’s interim president.π

Scores Welcome Doumbouya In Sierra Leone As His Convoy Passed Through The Capital
Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio welcomed his Guinean counterpart and the purpose of this visit is to establish co-operation between the two countries. In addition, to his mission, Doumbouya plans to visit the Guinean community in Sierra Leone.
Scores trooped into the streets as the convoy of their guest passed through the principal streets of the capital. His charisma is felt by most people who easily get attracted to see the coup maker.
