SLPP ATTACKS APC AGAIN IN PUJEHUN
Pujehun – 6th June
For the second time in a row, ruling party thugs have brutally attacked opposition supporters in Potoru in Pujehun District.
The APC team, led by the National Publicity Secretary Sidie Yayah Tunis and Deputy Regional Chairman South Sylvester Suaray, held a successful meeting in the constituency and left to hold another meeting in Zimmi when they received an emergency call that their supporters were being attacked.
According to the National Publicity Secretary, “The Poturu meeting was very successful, and the turnout was impressive. We had the security forces and EU Observers present. I think large turnout is what aggravated the thugs to attack our members after we had left for another meeting in Zimmi.”
Tunis said that they made a U-Turn to the scene and found ruling party thugs attacking their members, but ran when they saw the security forces.
Sylvester Suaray, the Deputy Regional Chairman, said,” We had preached peace in the meeting and advised our supporters to maintain peace and focus on winning the June 24th elections. Unfortunately, ruling party thugs attacked our supporters after EU Observers and the security forces had left to escort us to another meeting.“
A similar incident occurred in Poturu 2 weeks ago when APC held their campaign.
