Are you trying to make sense of the indictment of President Ernest Bai Koroma who was elected twice by a vast majority of Sierra Leoneans (2007-2018), stepped aside at the end of his second term as president as mandated by the constitution, who could have have had the constitution changed to allow him a third term but didn’t, who has spent the past six years as an elder statesman supporting elections and democratic transitions across the continent, that that same Ernest Bai Koroma today stands charged with treason for trying to overthrow the government in an what the government says was an attempted coup?
Now for the attempted coup for which he has been indicted.
Maybe you’re wondering how the attempted coup where the armory was emptied is no more than five minutes from the presidential and vice president residences (destination 001 from the African coupist playbook) but the coupists skipped their homes.
