Ambassador Ismael Koroma, Sierra Leone’s Deputy Ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia on Monday 26th May, 2014 paid a courtesy visit on the Minister Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Japanese Embassy in Addis Ababa, Mr. Kenji Yokota.
The main thrust of the courtesy call which took place at the Chancery of the Japanese Embassy in Addis Ababa was to further strengthen the already existing cordial and friendly bilateral relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Koroma said that before his departure to Addis Ababa, His Excellency President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma instructed him to reach out and have an interface with all the countries that are very friendly to Sierra Leone.
He further said that President Koroma cited Japan as one those countries which are ready to support Sierra Leone.
“In our post war development process, Japan has helped us through its development agency, JICA in the areas of electrification, agriculture, among other development projects,” he said, adding that the schemes implemented by JICA in the country were very visible.

According to the Deputy Head of Mission, his visit speaks volumes thus the world is a global village.
“I am here on behalf of His Excellency President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma to express his gratitude for all what Japan has done for the people of Sierra Leone,” he noted.
He pointed out that President Koroma is now rolling out the Agenda for Prosperity which is the country’s growth, development and transformation plan, an initiative that was commissioned by the President in his second term in office to remove Sierra Leone out of the woods.
He also said that President Koroma is operating an open door policy in administrating and governing the country.
Responding, the Minister Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Japanese Embassy in Addis Ababa, Mr. Kenji Yokota said he was so pleased to hear that the Government of Sierra Leone really appreciates what Japan is doing in the country.
He assures that the economic cooperation between the two countries would be strengthened.
Mr. Yokota described the first ever Committee of 10 Heads of State Summit in democratizing the United Nations Security Council held outside the margins of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State in Congo Brazzaville was a bullet achievement for Sierra Leone.
The duo also spoke at length about reforming the United Nations Security Council, adding that the strength of leadership President Koroma as Coordinator of the C-10 has shown in the reformation of the Security Council is laudable.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Ibrahim Vandi Kondoh, Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery at the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Addis Ababa and Madam Fumiko Nishihara, First Secretary and Head of Political/African Union Division in the Japanese Embassy in Addis Ababa.
