17 June, 2025.

Lansana Dumbuya, the National Secretary General of the All People’s Congress (APC), has made an urgent appeal for unity within the party as the 2028 general elections approach. Speaking at the APC headquarters in Freetown, Dumbuya specifically called on former presidential flagbearer Dr. Samura Kamara and former Vice President Chief Alhaji Samuel Sam-Sumana to return to the party office and contribute to the party’s efforts for a successful campaign.

β€œI am calling on Dr. Samura Kamara and Chief Sam Sumana to come to the party office without any preconditions. This is their party. If you have good intentions, come and help build this party for the future,” Dumbuya emphasized, highlighting the importance of reconciliation and collective action.

He warns that ongoing divisions within the party would jeopardize its electoral prospects, urging all members both former and current to unite under a shared vision. β€œWe must unite this party. Division cannot help us. Anyone who finds themselves outside should return with the right spirit,” he stated.

Dumbuya’s remarks come amid growing grassroots calls for reconciliation among prominent APC figures. He stressed that personal ambitions and parallel movements must come to an end, urging all stakeholders to rebuild the party’s strength from within.

β€œYou can’t abandon the party and still expect to lead it. We all must join hands and work together. This is a collective fight for the soul and future of the APC,” he added.

As Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the APC is actively working to revitalize its structures and reenergize its support base following the 2023 general elections. Party insiders believe that the inclusion of influential figures like Dr. Kamara and Chief Sam Sumana could significantly enhance the APC’s chances of regaining power in the upcoming electoral cycle.
