Ambassador Bryan Hunt’s admonition to government : What SLPP supporters are saying

*THE CRITICAL MIND*

*The American ambassador, the dialogue agreement, and the coup d’etat*

The American ambassador appears to take sides in the nation’s party politics as depicted in his rhetoric. He does not appear to show empathy for the lives lost during the failed coup d’etat. Instead, he minisculed those wasted lives in the November 26 coup d’etat by pushing the government to focus more on the dialogue agreement than on the ongoing coup investigation. This clearly asserts the imperialist behavior Africa currently grapples with. I wish he could realize the extent to which APC can go to gain political power. This does not necessarily pin the coup to the APC, but the ambassador should respect his diplomatic mission and allow the investigation to go on without hindrance and hasty exoneration.

Unfortunately, the ambassador’s rhetoric does not manifest a non-bias opinion. He needs to listen to the impunity of the APC flagbearer threatening the peace and tranquility of the country if he failed to win elections. He lost the election in 2018, and the August 10 insurrection happened. He made a similar threat to the peace of our country for the June 2023 elections, and now we have the November 26 failed coup d’etat to contend with. Would one take these two events as a mere coincidence? If it were, it still deserves thorough investigation in a political landscape.

The APC voted for Samura Kamara to become their flagbearer. You have to believe in the philosophy of a political party to become its flagbearer. Once a flagbearer, you have become the mouthpiece of that political party. Therefore, whatever came out of Samura Kamara’s mouth during the campaign represented the APC party. This gives a reason to have APC as a suspect in the failed coup d’etat.

The ambassador has apparently become an advocate for the APC party and now attempts to distract the government from effective investigation with the dialog agreement. We lost many lives during the failed coup, and I do not see good reason in the ambassador putting emphasis on the dialogue even in the heat of the ongoing investigations to bring the coupist to justice. I hope the government uses its better judgment in priority between the coup investigation and the dialogue agreement irrespective of pressure from the ambassador and other international bodies. Let justice prevail.

*AN OPEN LETTER TO THE US AMBASSADOR TO SIERRA LEONE.*

By Paywahun.

My dear Ambassador Bryan David Hunt, As the US Ambassador to Sierra Leone, it is your responsibility to foster positive diplomatic relations between our two countries. This includes respecting the sovereignty and the internal affairs of The Republic of Sierra Leone and your country, The USA.

As a diplomat, it is important to remember that Sierra Leone is a sovereign nation with its own legal system and processes. We have capable investigators who are diligently working to uncover the truth behind the failed attempted coup that took place in the early hours of 26th November, 2023. Their proceedings and findings should be respected and allowed to reach a conclusion without external interference.

By prematurely making statements and casting doubts or suggesting how the investigators should proceed, you are not only interfering in our domestic affairs but also undermining the trust and confidence that should exist between our two nations.

Your counterparts from other countries have chosen to remain silent during this investigation, knowing the importance of allowing the process to unfold independently. In this regard, I urge you to follow their example and refrain from making further statements or taking actions that could be perceived as meddling in our internal affairs.

Judging from your video presentation, your behavior was not in line with the expected conduct of a foreign diplomat.

In my view, diplomacy requires respect, and adherence to established protocols. Your suggestions, who the investigators should pursue or be excluded or whether “the act reflects the act of the opposition” or any “legitimate political party in Sierra Leone or if any individual did so, did so in an individual capacity” is a forgone conclusion that not only cast doubt on our investigators ability, you are not upholding the expected diplomatic principles.

In view of these facts, I implore you to reconsider your statement and allow the investigators to complete their work without interference. It is crucial for the integrity of the investigation and for the continued positive relations between our two countries. Let us maintain the trust and respect that exist between our two nations as we work towards a mutually beneficial partnership.

Remember, we are a sovereign nation, and it is important to show respect for the people of Sierra Leone. Let the investigation continue without hindrance, I beg!!!

My curiosity about the U.S. 🇺🇸 Ambassador to Sierra Leone David Hunt triggers certain clarifications here. Someone has to tell us since when did American Ambassadors start becoming spokespersons for the opposition party in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 In fact who cares what he believe in???🤷‍♂️

I am bemused at the rampant flippancy of these foreign diplomats who have no business in our local politics. The US Ambassador should know why he is here and the limits he should not cross as a foreigner. Poking his nose into our nation’s politics oversteps his credentials by running a parallel government to the government of the day. *Ambassador Hunt you don’t even have the right to live in our country, your prevarications do not entitle you the privilege to squat your hunches on our soil*❌❌❌

Do we have a ministry called the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation? The burden of checks and balances lie in your hands to groom and shape to size unbroughtup foreign diplomats who interfere with our politics and don’t seem to respect their mission’s mandate. Additionally, a foreign diplomat who doesn’t respect our sovereignty and that of his country of origin by extension, should be given persona non grata by the police. Otherwise the citizens will give him an ultimatum that his personal safety is NOT guaranteed after 48 hours. The utterances of the American Ambassador is totally unacceptable and has no place in our society!

If we the citizens cannot bundle him physically out of our country, we will poison him, or fire him with witch gun🔫. So when he returns home as cargo, that message will send a signal that this is Africa for Africans‼️
This nonsense is too much from these so called diplomats especially the EU head Manuel Miguel Muller, British High Commissioner Lissa Chezney and the that arrogant US 🇺🇸 Ambassador David Hunt who thinks Sierra Leone is his grandfather’s private property that he can meddle with anyhow!
Fork to your America! After all America is no more world power! Otherwise your America should have challenged Russia over Ukraine invasion.💪
