JUST AS THEY FEARED when fuel started disappearing from the markets during the past two weeks, prices at the fuel pump went up steeply once again in Sierra Leone , leaving everybody petrified about the future as costs of other goods and services correspondingly went up.
Beginning from today, the prices of all fuel products in Sierra Leone will be Le 22, 000 at a time when virtually every basic commodity or service is Sierra Leone has already undergone dramatic changes since the last fuel price increase only a month ago.
The Government of Sierra Leone led by President Maada Bio on June 11 by increased the price of fuel from Le 15, 000 per litre to Le 18, 000 , provoking an outcry of disenchantment and alarm from Sierra Leoneans on social media.
This is the third increase of fuel in Sierra Leone this year, the first being in March.
Sierra Leone now has the highest prices for fuel products in West Africa .

As soon as the new price increase was announced this week, prices of transportation and other basic commodities went up.
THE MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT IMMEDIATELY ANNOUNCED THESE INCREASES IN PUBLIC TRAVEL COSTS.
The Sierra Leone Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission soon also hit the public cold with new tariffs. More than 300% increase since 2018.
