Dear Sir,
COMPLAINT BY SALONE LOOKING GLASS WHATSAPP FORUM AGAINST JONATHAN LEIGH OF INDEPENDENT OBSERVER
I write, on my personal behalf as a concerned citizen of Sierra Leone and also in my capacity as the Founder and Chief Administrator of the Whatsapp group forum known as SALONE LOOKING GLASS, to bitterly complain the publisher of the Independent Observer newspaper, Mr. Jonathan Leigh.
As a practising journalist myself, I want to first draw your attention to his last Friday 6th February 2015 publication against Reverend Kabbs-Kanu and Dr. Sylvia Blyden which breaches most of the laid down rules of the Media Code of Practise of the Independent Media Commission of the Republic of Sierra Leone. I am very pleased to see the proactive manner in which the IMC, under your leadership, has acted to summon Leigh.
Now, my complaint today is against his today (Feb 9th) follow-up of his February 6th 2015 offensive article. His today edition has a front page reference to the SALONE LOOKING GLASS WHATSAPP group which I founded and for which I am the Chief Administrator. On the front page of his today’s edition, Mr. Jonathan Leigh has falsely claimed that Dr. Sylvia Blyden confessed on my noble SALONE LOOKING GLASS WHATSAPP group that she was guilty of having sex with Revd Kabbs-Kanu. This is a despicable untruth as no such confession was ever made on my noble group by Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, a woman of high standing and huge respect in this country and outside this country.
Jonathan Leigh is not a member of my noble group and infact, such a man who lacks respect for women, can never be a member of our noble group. Therefore, his allegations today claiming he took such a confession from my noble group, has brought my noble group into disrepute to the reading public and he did it right on his front page.
I have access to media houses which I can use to counter him tit-for-tat but I will refrain from any media war with him as I have huge respect for your leadership of the IMC and the current set of IMC Commissioners. I am therefore going to hold my peace as will other members of our noble SALONE LOOKING GLASS WHATSAPP group and instead we have brought the complaint to your attention.
SALONE LOOKING GLASS WHATSAPP GROUP is a noble group of patriotic, decent citizens of high moral fibre and we trust you can discipline Jonathan Leigh for his affront and attack on the decency of our group.
