APC office in Bo is burnt down as SLPP supporters continue mayhem

Supporters of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP ) have resorted to mayhem few days before general elections in the country.

Yesterday, SLPP supporters went on the rampage and attacked the office of the APC in Bo. According to s video circulated on social media, one of the thugs was heard boasting that they decided to burn the office and will follow it up by driving every APC supporter out of the town . As he boasted, the building could be seen on fire, with smoke billowing from it and burning.

According to a member of the APC Young Generation on audio, they were having a meeting at the office when SLPP supporters attacked , using slings and catapults ( Popularly known in Sierra Leone as Rubber Facks ) and ad everybody dispersed, the SLPP supporters set the building on fire.

There was a running battle later on in the town between SLPP and APC supporters and one SLPP boy could be heard on audio urging his compatriots not to be afraid of the Police . As he spoke, a small truck loaded with heavily- armed police drove by and later dispersed the combatants with teargas .

Residents of Bo are said to be worried that there could be chaos on elections day and have started stocking up on food in anticipation of chaos .

MEANWHILE, the APC presidential candidate , Dr. Samura Kamara also tweeted yesterday that he and his convoy had been attacked in Pujehun , where they had gone to campaign. He also released the following statement :

“It is with great concern that I condemn the burning of the APC party offices in Bo and the attack on my motorcade yesterday in Pujehun. These acts of violence are completely unacceptable and have no place in a democratic society.

“I strongly urge all political parties and their supporters to refrain from engaging in violence and instead focus on conducting peaceful and respectful campaigns. Political differences should be resolved through constructive dialogue and engagement rather than resorting to violence and intimidation.

“I am committed to promoting unity, peace, and stability in the country. I believe that a peaceful and respectful election process is critical for the development and progress of the country. I always condemn any form of violence and will continue to do so.

“I call on the relevant authorities to investigate these incidents and bring the perpetrators to justice. I also urge the authorities to take measures to ensure the safety and security of all political candidates and their supporters.

“I urge all Sierra Leoneans to work towards a peaceful and respectful election process. Let us focus on the issues that matter most to the people and engage in constructive dialogue to find solutions to the challenges facing our country. Together, we can build a brighter future for all Sierra Leoneans.”

 

BREAKING NEWS
The All People’s Congress Party is under serious attack in Bo District and the party’s District office is currently on Fire with the District Chairlady and her family trapped inside the building. The Police is actually doing nothing to put the situation under control and our party’s members are nolonger safe.
