APC FEARS UNREST, PROTEST IN LIMBO
APC Hesitates: Protest or Panic?

As of 9 April 2026, about three-and-a-half weeks have passed since the All People’s Congress announced plans for a nationwide protest, yet Sierra Leoneans are still waiting for a confirmed date.

The opposition party had earlier boycotted Parliament, signaling rising tensions and raising expectations that mass action would soon follow. But with the weeks slipping by, public anticipation is increasingly mixed with speculation over whether the protest will ever happen.

Prominent APC figure Ady Macaulay revealed that the party is still carefully weighing its options, aiming to ensure any demonstration is peaceful, well-organized, and free from casualties.
His comments indicate that the APC is conscious of the risks tied to large-scale protests in a tense political climate. The challenge remains balancing public pressure for action with the responsibility to avoid unrest.

Critics argue the delay may reflect internal fears over possible consequences, including escalation, government crackdown, or a protest that fails to gain traction.
For now, Sierra Leone watches closely as APC decides whether to move from promises to action—or continue treading cautiously.
