Claudius Beckley passed away at about 5:30 pm at his Gloucester Village residence in Freetown. yesterday and when the news hit the social media the whole Sierra Leone diaspora was shocked. He was one of the country’s most famous bloggers, who mixed wit and humor to his very interesting information.
He has been ailing for a while and even underwent a neck surgery.
Claudius Beckley also worked as Freetown news correspondent for the COCORIOKO Newspaper and was a personal friend of the publisher, Leeroy Wilfred Kabs0Kanu.
Claudius Beckley was also a renowned television photo journalist with the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation.

For many years Claudius Beckley was one of our most trusted Camera man at then SLBS/TV NEWSROOM during our days.During the Past regime of President Ernest Bai Koroma, he was attached at State House.Claudius , very dedicated, always well dressed, was said to have been relieved off his duties at SLBC for unknown reasons.His demise was confirmed by family members less than an hour ago.May his gentle soul and those of the faithful departed RIP. Popular photo journalist and cameraman of formerly the SLBC, Claudius Beckley has died in Freetown after a long illness. No other details regarding the exact cause of death have been provided.
He was a professional journalist who served the SLBC for nearly two decades. Claudius was very friendly, honest and prayerful. He served as my family’s cameraman on many occasions.
And I travelled with him to the provinces as documentary producer for the UNHCR while I was working in Sierra Leone. May the Good Lord forgive him and admit his soul in heaven.
