CONSTANTLY SEEKING VALIDATION IS MAKING MAADA BIO RIDICULOUS ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE

The events of the past weekend have once again demonstrated why Sierra Leone has become not just one of the poorest nations on earth but the laughing stock of Africa and the world—-A country that neighbouring Guinea, of all less worthy nations , is thumbing its nose at and treating our citizens like dogs, bundling them into military trucks to deport them out of their poverty- stricken country.

How much more shame should we endure from impoverished Guinea. They have not only seized our land but they had the spectacular gumption to violate the Vienna Convention by arresting our ambassador and holding him in custody. They then pushed their contempt for us far beyond imagination and arrested our soldiers on our own soil and took them to Guinea where they humiliated them by making them sit on the ground like common criminals. Guinea? Guinea indeed ? But people will treat you the way you project yourself. How you treat you sef nar so den go ask you for tote pot nar Awujoh !
The countries that we slavishly kowtow to and shamefully seek their recognition should have been the ones running to us , but for our lazy and backward mindsets. A president of a resource-rich country like Sierra Leone should have been the go-to personality , not the one whose supporters and spokespersons are celebrating sarcastic praise from President Donald Trump.
The sight of a sickly – looking , malnourished and sloppy President Maada Bio standing like a subservient slave before Donald Trump’s son, probably begging him to plead with his father to invite him to the White House ( Photo posted online by Bio’s image- builders ) is another sickening embarrassment for a president that should have been majestically towering over all the people whose affirmation he is craving. It is Donald Trump jr who should be scrambling to President Bio ‘s seat and seeking photo- ops with him. How shameful and embarrassing that it is the opposite .
What is most embarrassing about some of these photos is not the idea of posting them. It is the mindsets behind the acts as if the President’s image- makers are themselves reconciled in their minds that President Bio is a loathsome, despised, repulsive, detestable African leader seeking validation, recognition —and in a sense, that is what it seems because it is all that we see Bio and his handlers doing. It is like they are saying : “Do you see ? The shunned, obnoxious, repugnant president you are ridiculing is gaining acceptance from Trump and other leaders. “
If you can call others great and thank them for their performance and all you can say about me is that my name sounds sweet and you love it, I do not need your cheeky and disrespectful “recognition. “
President Bio does not need such vibes, nor the validation and affirmation of President Donald Trump or any other leader to be worth his salt. Or for our country to be reckoned. Bio comes from a country that is blessed with an embarrassment of riches. Small- looking Sierra Leone is blessed with such minerals and other resources that we should have been seen leveraging our status proudly around the world. Sierra Leone is one of the richest countries in the world.
But as I said earlier, people will treat you according to the way you package yourself on the public stage. Maada Bio , first of all , destroyed his own respect and personality by being one of the most unserious, unprogressive and corrupt leaders of a sovereign country, a leader who does not value or respect even his own self; a common elections thief , a human rights abuser and an enemy of democracy.
Why would anyone actually respect somebody like Maada Bio who has undermined himself by cutting a vile and disgusting picture on the stage at home. To Sierra Leoneans, Bio is nothing but a tribalistic and retrogressive windbag , who is very deceitful and inimical to the progress of his own country and people. He is an enemy of progress .
All things being equal and had this been a world not ruled by bums, scamps and villains, the Maada Bios should have had every door of international politics and diplomacy shut in their faces. It is this slur and baggage being carried by Bio that makes him seek constant validation, even from leaders who are no better than him . His handlers too know this —-That is why they utilize every opportunity to showcase his photos abroad like they are proving something —-his critics are wrong about him.
Maada Bio, being President of such a resource- rich country , with even some of the brightest minds in the world, should have made himself and Sierra Leoneans proud, by walking tall, needing nobody’s validation and rather bluffing his way everywhere, using our abundant resources to build a country that would have been the envy of every nation. He should have built upon the models of infrastructural and socioeconomic development left him by former President Ernest Koroma , who made Sierra Leone a works yard, where impressive projects were commissioned almost every month.
Let the Guineans , for instance, see development projects going on in Sierra Leone and a Sierra Leone that is better than them as it was in the past, and see if they will treat our citizens like swine . After all, Sierra Leone helped immeasurable to build Guinea .
The onus should have been on Bio, who came to power with very high expectations. But all Bio had done is oppress his people, kill and constantly threaten to kill more, create a dangerous tribal, ethnic and regional divide ; destroy every institution, exacerbate suffering and want, waste his country’s resources on foolish international travels and hosting wanted international drug lords, one of whom is married to his daughter.
Even being ECOWAS Chairman has done Bio nothing good . He is the ECOWAS Chairman that an illiterate dictator like Guinea’s Mamady Dumbuya would treat like a nonentity , seize his land, arrest and disgrace his soldiers and deport almost one thousand citizens of his country in one fell swoop . You want to ask : What kind of ECOWAS Chairman is Maada Bio when he is neither influential nor carries any serious weight in the subregion ? Bio rather travels to Guinea to beg an illiterate President to give back his land and not provoke war with his country.
Who respects such a President ?
The Donald Trumps will continue to taunt President Bio sarcastically on the world stage by seeing nothing impressive in him except the sound of his name . How de world see you nar so den go buy you.
