Continuous downpour of heavy rain in Sierra Leone is causes tremendous havoc and flooding in Freetown and other cities in the country.

Flooding Affects Many Communities in Freetown

During the rainy season, the people construct illegal structures including baffas, cookery shops, pan-bodies and various shacks blocking waterways and gutters, while the local authorities are busy eating haramu and promoting ethnic divisions.

One day, Salone people will catch up to understand that, during the dry season, we prepare for the rainy season, and during the rainy season, we prepare for the dry season.

Most of Freetown is actually made up of slums. The Western Area including Wilkinson Road and Central Freetown are all prone to floods. Most of the houses are confronted with deplorable sanitary conditions.

This is the reality of the land described to be inhabited by the world’s most intelligent people with the most advanced IQ.

As fears spread of even more heavier rains , as the most difficult months August and September are  not even here yet, President Maada Bio and the Mayor of Freetown, Mrs. Yvonne Aki- Sawyer, have reached out to the people .
