*The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) today approved the nominations of the All People’s Congress (APC) Political Party’s Presidential Candidate and next President, Dr. Samura Kamara, and his running mate/ Vice President, Hon. Chernor Maju Bah for the June 24th. 2023 General Elections.*

Dr. Kamara and Hon. Bah requested the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mohamed Konneh to ensure free, fair, and credible elections.* Dr. Kamara and Hon. Bah also guaranteed that their APC party and its stalwarts, supporters, and sympathizers would ensure peaceful elections but were *concerned about Police’s intimidation and harassment* against their supporters.
And the words did not even finish coming out of their mouths when Police went on the rampage once again, intimidating, harassing and molesting the thousands of APC supporters who turned out in full colours to grace the occasion. Before the teargas attacks, there was a heavy joint police and armed military officers presence, seen in every strategic location in the streets of Freetown. And people were wondering whether Sierra Leone was at war.
Sierra Leoneans were very disappointed once again with the SLPP government for proving to the nation that they cannot handle democracy.
Political pundits and observers on social media said that the SLPP must have been intimidated by the massive crowds drawn by the APC as Freetown and its environs were turned into a sea of red, proving that the APC still controls the Western Area.
