EVANGELIST SAMSON IS GONE…WHO IS NEXT?

Two days after the presidential address, security forces are going around with unmarked vehicles and arbitrarily arresting and carrying out extrajudicial killings against people who are considered to be members and sympathizers of the main opposition APC party.
According to an eyewitness account, Evangelist Samson, one of the vociferous social media crusaders of the APC party, was shot to death yesterday around 6 pm at Campbell Street in Makeni; by some special forces believed to be from the 4th infantry brigade of the RSLAF from Tekoh, Makeni.
Evangelist Samson was the founder/CEO of the famous TAGMEN – a membership mobilization group which has one of the largest memberships of APC youths across the country.
The TAGMEN is an affiliate group of the APC party and has been one of the original groups that started and were at the centre of galvanizing the grassroots just after the party lost the presidential election in 2018.
Evidently, the extra-judicial killing of Samson further re-echoed the insinuation that the president is not prepared to unite an already divided nation.
In his speech, the president spoke about an immediate investigation into the cause of the August 10 dramatic event and promised to take the appropriate actions against the organizers and financiers.
However, a curious mind may want to know if the Justice the president was talking about in his speech is the extra-judicial killing and the arbitrary arrest of members of the main opposition.
This beg the question of the president’s willingness to reconcile with the main opposition-
Need I not remind the president about his speech in his inaugural address after he took the oath of office in April 2018 in which he said thus:
“…I want to reaffirm my commitment that I am President for All Sierra Leoneans. I therefore faithfully pledge to diligently work for, to protect and defend all Sierra Leoneans irrespective of political, tribal, religious, gender, sectional, regional and socio-economic background.”
Mr. President, you took an oath to protect and defend every Sierra Leone devoid of political affiliation; nonetheless as we speak your security forces are arbitrary killing, and harassing members and sympathizers of the main opposition APC party – Apparently, your silence on the issue implies your endorsement, to the contemptible act of your security forces.
To the current leadership of the APC party, the lives of members are in your hands especially that of the youths- equally the progress of the party is in your hands- Therefore, you need to come out with a strong statement about the death of Evangelist Samson, and any more death the membership will hold you responsible
To the different camps, this is the time for unity; it is time to put away your indifferences for the unity of the party
The fact of the matter is- the opponent is taking advantage of this sad state of affairs within the party, and it may want it like that until 2023.
As a party we should not allow our opponent to continue to have a field day, hence we must stand up now or never – Evangelist Samson is gone….Who is next? As it stands now the party has only one common enemy to fight……
