How was Evangelist Samson killed ? SLPP Government explanation evokes spectre of Idi Amin, the Butcher of Uganda

The Sierra Leone Police explanation of how the APC  social media blogger and warhorse, Hassan Dumbuya, aka Evangelist Sampson, has brought mixed feelings to Sierra Leoneans and evoked the feeling that the era of Idi Amin is on Sierra Leone.

The Idi Amin era is upon Sierra Leone. Late President Idi Amin of Uganda used to send death squads to kill innocent people opposed to his government  and then his security would lie that they were either killed by  stray bullets or in a crossfire or they had a gun and it went off and killed them.

President Maada Bio  is a replica of Idi Amin and is now using his tactics to explain away  his extrajudicial killings. The Police explanation of how Evangelist Samson died is a script stolen from Idi Amin. How Evangelist Samson died is a throwback of the Idi Amin, Mobutu and Samuel Doe era scripts.

Eyewitnesses saw nothing of a shootout. Bio’s security went and killed Samson while he sat with friends , keeping company, without any resistance. There was no crossfire. The Police are lying. Maada Bio  has dusted Amin’s scripts from the shelf and is now using them.

The summary arrests and executions of political opponents, after dragging then from their homes at night on bogus allegations of coup-making or terrorism, in a struggling, suffering country, is a serious international crime.
BIO AND HIS SLPP SUPPORTERS ASSASSINATED YOU IN BROAD DAYLIGHT DUE TO TRIBALISM AND HATEFUL POLITICS.
May your soul rest in perfect peace comrade Samson. You made a great difference in the lives of many while you were alive.
You promoted the APC party in all angles and due to your unconditional efforts, the party made great successes in local elections, despite the challenges inflicted on the leadership and the grassroots by the SLPP administration of bio and members of the NRM movement.
COMRADE EVANGELIST SAMSON, YOU NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

Sierra Leone opposition figure Hassan Dumbuya killed

Thomas Naadi

BBC News, Accra

A prominent critic of Sierra Leone’s government of has been killed during a police raid, raising serious concerns about extrajudicial killings and accusations of targeting opposition figures.

It happened when officers were in the hideout of alleged suspects behind last week’s violent protests.

According to the police, Hassan Dumbuya – popularly known as Evangelist Samson and a member of the All People’s Congress – was killed when officers exchanged gunfire with a neighbourhood group in the capital Freetown.

Police also say they received intelligence that ex-civil war combatants were planning an attack, so they arrested four people and confiscated what they said was a light submachine gun.

President Julius Maada Bio has said that the protests were an attempt to overthrow his government and that the perpetrators will face justice.

Twenty-one civilians and five police officers were killed during the violent protests over the rising cost of basic goods. Rights groups have called for an independent investigation into the protests.

Others have paid tribute to Dumbuya, while disputing the police’s version of events.
