Ironically, while he arrived in the U.S yesterday to give a lecture about democracy in a U.S .university, President Bio’s human rights – abusing buzzards , who have stretched their hands to our neighbouring countries—Liberia and Guinea— have arrested menbers of the opposition All People’s Congress ( APC ) who had been living in Conakry. Guinea, since Bio came to power in 2018.
This disheartening news hit the country over the weekend. According to some APC operatives in Freetown, the arrest constitutes a violation of the fundamental human rights of the APC members because they had been living in Guinea peacefully, minding their own business.
Key among those arrested was Abubakarr Boxx Conteh, an entertainer and one- time leading APC member in Sierra Leone.

To show that the arrest of the APC members was unlawful and without a just reason, ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP ) members on social media first said last Sunday that the APC officials were arrested for their involvement in the trans- shipment to Guinea of the deadly kush drug ravaging Sierra Leone presently, causing a national crisis.
Now, the story has changed. The Government Information Ministry has announced that Boxx Conteh was arrested for his role in the so-called abortive military coup of November 26, 2023.

AN APC BLOG STATEMENT ON SATURDAY
There is news that the government of #SierraLeone has facilitated the arrest of an opposition strongman, Abubakar Boxx Konteh, who is also a socialite and entertainment manager. DJ Boxx, as he is popularly known, has been living in the Republic of Guinea since the government of PresidentBio took over in 2018 for fear of harassment that often leads to long-term imprisonment and fatal outcomes in some cases, as we’ve seen in the past.
What baffles citizens is that he has never been on any wanted list nor a person of interest to the police. Sierra Leone has gone through a lot in the past. Everone should be working towards building a cohesive society rather than creating more bad blood among citizens. In a democracy—there must be a political opposition, often characterised by disagreement, that doesn’t give a green light for unending intimidation and violence against opponents. If, for any reason, someone is of interest to the police, due process must be followed at all times, and the rule of law must be respected.
We are calling @ecowas_cedeao to intervene and ensure his release and also to the Guinean police—this was a surprise as we expect Guinea to be a nation of law and a safe place for our citizens, as had been the case in the past.
