‘RESTORE DEMOCRACY IN SIERRA LEONE’ urges International stakeholders to enforce the full implementation of the Tripartite Committee agreements, despite Maada Bio’s opposition

THE COMPROMISED PRESIDENT JULIUS MAADA BIO CONTINUES TO DISREGARD AND UNDERMINE THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY’S EFFORTS TO RESTORE DEMOCRATIC LEGITIMACY IN SIERRA LEONE.

As this medium continues to draw the attention of the international community to the deliberate defiance and disrespect shown by Sierra Leone’s illegitimate and narcotics-trafficking President Julius Maada Bio, he has disregarded and undermined the authority of the international moral guarantors — Ecowas – Cedeao, United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel – Unowas, the African Union, The Commonwealth — as well as international development partners including the United Kingdom, United States, European Union, Canada, Australia, and other democratic governments working to restore democratic legitimacy in Sierra Leone.

The international moral guarantors (ECOWAS, the Commonwealth, and UNOWAS) have just concluded a joint assessment mission on the implementation of the Agreement for National Unity and the Tripartite recommendations in Sierra Leone, which took place from 13 to 20 April 2026. The mission ended with a signed communiqué agreed upon by the opposition APC party and the government. However, just days later, the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) — the ruling party of the illegitimate President Julius Maada Bio — released a press statement indicating that the government would not adhere to the implementation of the Agreement for National Unity, the Tripartite recommendations, or the additional eight resolutions.

We wish to make it clear to the international moral guarantors and the wider international democratic community that the illegal President Julius Maada Bio is not ready to implement any of these agreements or recommendations for the restoration of democracy in Sierra Leone. Julius Maada Bio is fully prepared to challenge the international community because he is harbouring Europe’s most-wanted convicted drug baron, Bolle Jos Leijdekkers — who has transformed Sierra Leone into a large-scale drug trafficking hub — along with the extrajudicial killings, human rights abuses, election rigging, and massive corruption committed by his illegitimate administration.

Sierra Leoneans are urging the international moral guarantors and the broader international community to ENFORCE the full implementation of the Tripartite Report, which has been adopted by the ECOWAS Heads of State and Government and the United Nations. The report has proven that JULIUS MAADA BIO did not win the 2023 elections and that no official results were announced and published by the Electoral Commission declaring him president.
