U.S President Donald Trump has cast aspersion and scorn on President Maada Bio as done by his predecessor President Joe Biden. Bio’s chairmanship of ECOWAS had counted for nothing as President Trump has refused to invite him to the White House for a major Summit ( to which he has invited 5 African leaders ) to discuss very important matters aimed at strengthening U.S- Africa multilateral socioeconomic and diplomatic relations.
This latest snub has come as a devastating blow to President Bio and his myriad of supporters who have been celebrating his ascension to the ECOWAS chairmanship like he has conquered the whole world and won the rights to everything in this world. But reality will now dawn upon them that though the ECOWAS chairmanship is a significant position, the new holder has no respect or credibility and is not fit to talk anything on behalf of Africa or the subcontinent.
If Bio’s ceremonial ascension to the ECOWAS rotational Chairmanship counted for anything and was that important to international geopolitics and if the position granted him any international clout, there is no reason that President Bio should not have been invited him to this meeting , given the topics on the agenda and their far- reaching significance on the future of the continent.
Nothing makes the U.S’ latest snub more disrespectful and more humiliating to Bio than the fact that all the presidents invited for the summit are from West Africa, a subregion under Bio’s responsibility as ECOWAS Chairman. Why would the U.S invite Senegal, Liberia, Gabon , Guinea Bissau and Mauritania but leave out Sierra Leone whose president holds the headship of West Africa, if it is not to send a strong message that not only is Bio still unrecognized by America but the U.S does not still want to have anything to do with him ?
ECOWAS will realize this morning , with eggs on their faces, that the criminal gambit undertaken by its criminal leaders headed by the criminal Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to try to salvage Bio’s battered and disgraced image by making him their Chairman did not pay dividends after all . The message is that even if you give a rat a shave and a million dollar coat, he is still a rat.
Whatever SLPP sycophants and bootlickers as well as APC sugar ants ( who have now joined to embellish Maada Bio’s sagging image ) say about this shameful snub of a whole ECOWAS Chairman by the U. S will sound hollow, stupid and self- depreciating . 5 West African leaders are invited to the White House to discuss crucial issues of building stronger ties between America and Africa through economic cooperation , trade, mineral resources and leveraging on regional security but the ECOWAS Chairman , under whose purview all these matters lie, is not invited. Does that not tell you something ? Who is better officially disposed to head and lead these discussions with the so- called leader of the Free World if it is not the Chairman of ECOWAS ?
Bio himself will realize that continuously grabbing these international positions that other wise African leaders decline will do him no good if his dirty, despicable and loathsome image as a bully, human rights abuser, blood – shedding dictator, killer , international drug lord (even harboring a convicted international drug baron married to his daughter in defiance of public outcry ) and the corruption kingpin in Africa is not laundered.
Bio must repent, restitute and turn away from his evil and corrupt ways or else he will continue to stink like a skunk , whatever international position he holds.
