APC Comrades, It’s Time to Wake Up – 2023 is Over, Dr. Samura Won’t Be Inaugurated in 2025

Fellow comrades, I bring you greetings from the Republic of Reality. I know some of you have been living in the great nation of Denial for over a year now, still convinced that Dr. Samura Kamara will be inaugurated as President in 2025. Well, let me give you the message straight, raw, and unfiltered—this is not happening.

I understand—it’s hard to let go. The 2023 elections were painful, and we all know the outcome was controversial. We marched, we protested, and we hoped for justice. But at some point, you must stop waiting for a bus that is not coming. If you are still holding on to the fantasy that President Bio will pack his bags and hand over power before 2028, then my brother, my sister, you need deliverance. As the old African proverb says, “No matter how long a log stays in the river, it will never turn into a crocodile.” Holding onto 2023 will not magically make Samura Kamara President in 2025.

Let’s be serious for a moment. Since 2023, we have seen the rise of a new profession in Sierra Leonean politics—Facebook, WhatsApp, and social media prophets. These self-proclaimed political visionaries have been confidently declaring that “anytime from now,” Dr. Samura Kamara will be sworn in. Some claim the international community is secretly working behind the scenes to correct the injustice. Others confidently state that there are forces within SLPP who will overthrow Bio and hand over power to APC. At this point, I am convinced that some of you are reading political fiction novels instead of history books.

Meanwhile, while some of us are waiting for a miracle that will never happen, President Bio is running the country into the ground. Suffering, economic hardship, and abject poverty have become our realities. Prices of basic goods are skyrocketing, businesses are collapsing, unemployment is worsening, and people are struggling just to survive. Every day, more families fall deeper into poverty, and yet, some comrades are still busy writing long Facebook posts about how Dr. Samura will be inaugurated before 2028. Comrades, let’s focus on the living, not the dead. The 2023 elections are gone, but our people are suffering now. Instead of daydreaming about a lost battle, why not focus on how to remove this disastrous government in 2028?

Another wise saying goes, “The farmer who waits for all the leaves to fall before gathering firewood will sleep in the cold.” If waiting for Samura’s 2025 inauguration was a business, it would have gone bankrupt by now. There is no secret Supreme Court judgment, no hidden UN resolution, and certainly no divine intervention coming to reverse 2023. That election is done, finished, case closed.

Comrades, it’s time to throw in the towel and face reality. The focus should now be on 2028, not on fighting an election that is already over. SLPP is consolidating power, Bio is deepening the suffering of Sierra Leoneans, and while some of you are still arguing about 2023, the real political players are preparing for the next battle. Another African proverb reminds us, “A hunter who chases a missing elephant instead of tracking a new one will return home empty-handed.” If APC does not start preparing for 2028 now, we will find ourselves lost in another cycle of wishful thinking and missed opportunities.

APC needs to regroup, restructure, and re-strategize for 2028. The SLPP is not waiting for us to accept defeat—they are already laying the foundation for their next campaign. While some of you are still stuck in 2023, Bio is making appointments, securing alliances, and ensuring his party remains dominant. If we don’t wake up, we will enter 2028 with the same emotional energy but no real strategy.

As another proverb says, “A man who refuses to build his own house will be a tenant forever.” If APC does not put its house in order now, we will be spectators in another election instead of competitors.

And to my WhatsApp University graduates and Facebook evangelists of “Dr. Samura will be president before 2028,” I beg, let common sense enter the discussion. Posting long paragraphs on social media does not change political reality. Creating conspiracy theories in WhatsApp groups will not move power from SLPP to APC. Elections are won with strategy, planning, and ground-level work—not viral messages and voice notes.

So, dear comrades, snap out of it. You can keep believing in 2023 if it makes you sleep better at night, but do not distract those who are serious about 2028. The future belongs to those who prepare for it—not those who dwell in the past. If you want to fight for change, join the party’s efforts to build a stronger APC for the next election. Otherwise, you will still be sitting in 2026, waiting for an inauguration that will never happen.

I know after reading this, some of you will call me names, insult me, and rain abuses on me. For what it’s worth, that’s a small price to pay for speaking the truth. But insults won’t change reality. The battle ahead is for 2028, not a miracle from 2023. If you are still waiting for Samura’s swearing-in ceremony, please, take a deep breath, drink some cold water, and come back to reality. As the elders say, “The monkey that misses its branch must learn to walk on the ground.” The party needs you in 2028, not lost in political fantasy.
