People’s Power in Politics ( PPP) calls for demonstrations next week to forestall rigging of the June 24 elections in Sierra Leone

Adebayor’s 72 Hours Ultimatum for ECSL to Release Voter Data Hailed by Sierra Leoneans

By Abu Shaw

Citizens believe Adebayor’s 72 hours ultimatum for the Electoral Commission to release the Voter Register Data is the right step to salvage democracy.

President Bio is aware that the people want him out and rigging is the only option left for the failed SLPP regime to retain power. Sierra Leoneans know that now is the time for the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone ECSL, chaired by the crook Mohamed Kenewui Konneh, to produce the Voter Register Data for public consumption. Despite the calls by the people and the main opposition APC party for ECSL to make available the Voter Data, the ECSL is still dragging its feet to do so. ECSL’s reluctance to release the Voter Data is a total violation of the electoral laws of the country. Patriotic Sierra Leoneans are very upset and wary of the dubious games being played by the ECSL. This is the reason why Adebayor, real name Mr William Kamara based in Holland, has given this ultimatum to ECSL. (Photo: Adebayor has always been a thorn in the flesh of the barbaric Bio presidency).

Adebayor’s ultimatum is popular and simple. ECSL’s Mohamed Konneh should release the Data now or the people will protest after the expiry of the 72 hours deadline. This has frankly sent panic chills within the corridors of power because they know the popularity of Adebayor in Sierra Leone. The Bio presidency knows that the people religiously listen to Adebayor as they still remember vividly the famous August 8, 9, and 10, 2022 protests that exposed the nakedness of President Bio’s violent and incompetent SLPP regime. The August demonstrations resulted in the deaths of so many people thanks to police brutality and extrajudicial killings of innocent people. Adebayor’s ultimatum comes barely two weeks after the APC National Secretary General Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya had made a similar ultimatum to the ECSL to release the Data or go on a nationwide strike. Up to press time, the APC threat is yet to materialise. This has infuriated Adebayor and the majority of Sierra Leoneans who had relied on the APC to properly squeeze the corrupt ECSL to act as well as to carry out the protest threat announced by the APC party. The silence from the APC Secretariat regarding the Voter Register Data is alarming. No wonder, there are reports of foul play by APC traitors who are undermining the leadership of Dr Samura Kamara. It remains to be seen nevertheless. The corrupt ECSL plans to release the distorted Voter Register Data to the APC party in the last two days before the June 24 elections.

At the moment, the ECSL is reportedly compiling the final Voter Register, and there are competent sources saying that the one tribe Mende hegemonic Electoral Commissioners are deleting names belonging to the APC strongholds in the north and northwest from the final Voter List. This unfair deletion of names to disenfranchise eligible voters is a recipe for violence and a new civil war. Therefore, Sierra Leoneans are determined not to make the mistake of turning down Adebayor’s ultimatum given to ECSL to make available the Data now. This is a great opportunity to regain freedom, justice, and unity as a consequence of free and fair elections in the country. The people of Sierra Leone have decided to support Adebayor’s 72 hours ultimatum i.e. for Mohamed Konneh to produce the vital Voter Register Data now or the nationwide strike will go ahead on Tuesday.

Sierra Leoneans are poised to take to the streets to demonstrate after the 72 hours deadline on Tuesday, June 6. Adebayor’s ultimatum was aired live on social media on Thursday, June 1, 2023, and since then the people of Sierra Leone have decided to go on strike if the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone ECSL fails to release the Voter Register. Adebayor reiterated thus: “No Data, No Elections.” As the crucial June 24, 2023 elections draw nearer, the people’s demand for Voter Data has grown louder. Sierra Leoneans, fed up with the rotten SLPP regime of President Bio are getting ready for the protest on Tuesday. Adebayor has also explained that there are many APC traitors who are helping the ECSL to rig the June elections for the incumbent President Bio.
