SIERRA LEONE GOVERNMENT PRESS STATEMENT
Pres. Bio Dispatches A High-powered Delegation To Guinea
Government is highly concerned about the various reported border incursions and the closure of the main Guinea-Siera Leone land border that is impeding commerce and the free movement of persons between the two countries.
Government is taking all necessary steps to resolve this situation amicably and permanently. To that end, His Excellency, President Julius Maada Bio is dispatching a high-powered delegation to the Republic of Guinea for further discussions with the Government of his Guinean counterpart, President Alpha Conde.
We assure all citzens that Government is fully committed in its responsibilty to
protect and maintain the territorial integrity of Sierra Leone and also protect the lives and livelihoods of its citizens.
The public will be updated on the outcome of the Government’s engagements with the Guinean Government.
Salone Security Personnel Enter Guinea
A Sierra Leone delegation led by Brigadier A.B Conteh yesterday, 25th January, 2021 crossed into Guinea across the river at the Nongoa Garrison, Guekedou in the Southern border town of Guinea and held talks with their Guinean counterparts to resolve the Yenga issue.
No official report was issued after the meeting, but Freetown and Conakry are reportedly working on diplomatic moves to resolve the long – standing border dispute between the two countries.@ M. B. JALLOH
